BC or YC - Is there any difference?

I have a reservation for the BC in July. I have never stayed there (but I'm really excited :woohoo:) and was just wondering if the rooms at BC & YC are the same or if one is nicer than the other?? Can anyone give me the pros and cons of each? Also, I booked a standard room and would like suggestions on what area to request to try and get a nice view.

Thanks.

the BC strikes me as a bit more hectic/noisier, lobby wise, partly because of cape may. yc has a quieter lobby. yc has mostly full balconies, bc has mostly no balcony or standing room only balconies. both share SAB, both are close to the BW, epcot, and mgm. BC is slightly closer to epcot. some feel that BC is more family friendly, but we stayed at YC in october and found it to be wonderful for our family (kids were 4, 2, 2). BC is more pastel, YC lobby is darker, richer wood (the rooms felt light and airy, whites and navy blues).

for us, the full balcony was the clincher.

We stayed at YC in february for a convention and have never stayed at BC. From the little that I saw, I thought that BC had a better atmosphere/feel to it. Maybe it was the more formal decor in YC but the lobby of BC seemed so much bigger and nicer. Also, we were originally given a room on the ground level, right by the pool....but we thought that with a toddler, we would rather have a balcony so that he couldn't run off...so, after the CM told us what room we were in, we asked to have it changed and it seemed to bother him....our new room was top floor in a corner, right over the entrance and near the bus stop.....so the balcony was really just a small extra room (no view and right against another wall) that we didn't use at all. Maybe it was just the attitude of the CM that checked us in but overall, it seemed like the time that we spent in BC was nicer and the people a bit more friendly.

BC has more of a "young" atmosphere. Where YC has more of a "older" or mature atmosphere, if that makes sense. When we were down there in November we noticed that their were more families with younger children staying at the BC, which made it more noisy. We stayed at the conceirge level and we did see quite a few children there, and the were so cute! They had on their "best" outfits, little docker pants, I even saw one little boy in a sailor suit!!! How cute! and had the best manners. We loved the YC, the rooms were awesome and the views were great! Plus all the people there were amazing!

The only real difference is the decor. We have had nice balconys every time we stayed at the BC. We did book water view and requested the lake, so maybe that's why. :confused3 The YC lobby is quieter, but the noise at the BC never bothered us.

We like them both but perhaps like the BC a tad better. The atmosphere and general "feeling" is a little more relaxed and we like the brighter decor. Every room has either a standing balcony or a full balcony and each time we've requested a full balcony and gotten it. Oh, and the first floor rooms have patios of course.

There is also one thing that the Beach Club has that the Yacht Club does not: Art, the Greeter, or as my wife & I think of him, the Grand Admiral of the Beach Club. To find out more about Art & why we (& so many others) think of his as a true Disney Treasure, & why for us he makes the Beach Club the more appealing choice, check out the following thread: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1454184

Enjoy the Magic!

The YC lobby is somewhat quieter than the BC lobby (which is hardly a bad thing), but there are just as many families and children at the YC as there are at the BC. Having stayed at the YC a dozen times, I can assure you this is the case.

The other difference is that because of the layout of the hotels, the Yacht Club has better standard views (more real garden views instead of parking lot views) than the Beach Club.

It must have been then the time of year we went down then, because I can count probably on both hands the number of families with children. I love children dont get me wrong, I am an educator, but I was just stating an observation. I mean both resorts are awesome, so no matter which one you choose you will have a great time at!

BC is a "tad" closer to Epcot than the YC. YC is closer to the boat dock to catch the boat - just a "tad." BC has the Marketplace which offers you a small quick food/snack bar option -- but it is a quick walk from the YC. The decor at the YC and BC are drastically different. Beach Club is much more whimsical while the YC has a deeper/richer feel (in our opinion). BC typically has more families that stay there -- mainly because of the theme and DVC. YC typically has more "conventioneers" that stay there because of the convention center. That said, we are a family and really enjoy staying there. BC has Roy the Greeter -- YC has Art the Greeter - -both are wonderful. YC has all full balconies while BC has some that are only partial. YC for standard rooms seems to have more that are "garden" views instead of the parking lot. BC has Cape May in the lobby area which is often crowded and spills over into the lobby making it appear to be much more crowded and busy. Both are wonderful hotels and have pluses for each. We don't think you can go wrong. We love the location and the castmembers are always wonderful - at both places. In fact, the concierge floors share concierge staff -- they rotate their schedules.
