BC or WL?

Hi fellow Disney fanatics! Trying to make a decision for our November trip this year. Currently booked at Caribbean beach, very tempting to stay there with $75/night gift card they are offering because of construction. We've stayed there 2 times and like it. However, this will be our last trip for a while (kids getting too old to take out of school) so we're thinking of splurging. If we did, would you pick Wilderness Lodge or Beach Club? We have 2 boys, ages 6 and 10, love WL because of the theming, but love the location of Beach Club. Any advice?

Wilderness lodge is my pick. Yours close to all th deluxe for dining, MK is a boat ride away. BC is great but I don't like the transportation there.

We've stayed at both and my choice would be the WL. We had a nice stay at the BC, but we love the theme/decor of the WL and while the Epcot area is nice, we prefer the MK area. We find there to be more of a variety of dining options around the monorail and we love Roaring Forks for quick CS meals/snacks. BC has the Marketplace, but we find it too limited for my family compared to CS at other deluxe resorts, so that is a deal breaker for us when it comes to the Epcot resorts. We are in the minority, but we also prefer the WL pool to SAB. SAB is nice and I'm glad we tried it, but we weren't wow'd by it and wouldn't stay at BC solely for the pool (just my opinion). Good luck and happy planning.

Which parks will you be spending more time in? Do you have ADR's? What area are most of them in? If the Epcot area then I would stay at BC hands down (actually I'd stay at BW as I like that resort better than BC... I know I'm in the minority. Typically the rates are the same). If MK, then WL makes more sense.

I like the transportation convenience of the EP area resorts, and being able to walk to 2 parks. I didn't like at WL having to share a bus with FtWilderness, GF or Poly.

We love both resorts. Be aware though the rooms at the WL are smaller than rooms at the BC.

Our favorite resort will always be the Y&BC. When the kids were younger it was because of the pool. Now that everyone is older, it's also because of being able to walk to Epcot and MGM.

You can't go wrong with either resort. Why don't you do a split stay? That's what we usually do when we can't make up our minds. Lol.

We spend about the same time at each park, 2 days each, and probably just 1 day at HS this time. We will have a car, so I don't worry about driving to parks or our ADRs. We'll have at least 2 meals at Epcot, maybe more, so that's part of the attraction - if there's a restaurant we want to try, we can just walk on over there! And at night, if we want to walk around for a little bit before bed, the Boardwalk seems to be more exciting than walking around our resort.

But I LOVE the look of Wilderness Lodge. I think my issue is that I seem to have an emotional tie to WL (don't know why since I've never actually stayed there, lol) but BC seems much more practical for what we plan on doing during our trip.

We do plan on having more pool time than we usually do, and I'm not worried about buses since we usually drive to the parks.

Based on your post above it sounds like BC will be a better fit for this trip. SAB is fantastic and although yes the monorail resorts have a lot of food options so does Epcot, and it is a very close walk from the BC. The Boardwalk is also a lot of fun in the evening. Maybe plan on having a meal at WL so that you can enjoy a bit of the atmosphere there as well.

For me it would depend on where I would be spending more time at between MK and Epcot. If I was ending my day having dinner at Epcot most evening then I would stay at BC since it is a simple walk back to the resort and I would not have to worry about all the lines for the buses. If I was spending more time at MK it would be WL since it is a simple boat ride over. Both resort are great but I will say that BC has the best pool at WDW so that may factor into a decision as well.

BC for sure. Not sure why @Hoopfamily says they don't like the transportation. At BC you can boat or walk to 2 parks. You can walk through Epcot and Monorail to the MK if you chose to. Only must bus to AK. WL has a boat only to MK. Everywhere else is buses.
Dining choices are way more at BC as well. You have ALL the restaurants at YC/BC, Swan Dolphin, Boardwalk, and Epcot WS within walking distance. Huge variety.
BC has the best pool,

I prefer Epcot resorts over all others just because of the location. You will be within walking distance to Epcot or Hollywood studios. Also, the bus to MK or AK will be shorter since you are in the middle of the property. Also, if you have park hoppers, then BC would be the best option. The kids would love the pool as well.

BC has the best pool,
1: The boat is maddeningly slow, if you get to the dock as it pulls away I've waited 30 minutes for the next boat. This was not isolated, everytime I've used their boats for those resorts/ parks it's happened.
2:You can walk and to Epcot isnt bad, but to DHS its a journey.
3: You share buses with Boardwalk,Swan,Dolphin,Yacht club. For those prices you should more direct.
The resorts there are very nice. If you plan on spending tons of time at your resort or at Epcot they are great. But walking through Epcot to get to the monorail is a colossal waste of time. I prefer to minimize my wait time, but I tour differently than others. When we stayed at WL we found the buses to be great. and the MK boats to be plentiful.

When did you last stay at an Epcot resort?
Your bus sharing information is very old and outdated. I don't want other readers to think this is correct. Only BC /YC share buses to MK & AK. No longer sharing with all Epcot area resorts for quite awhile.
The walk to Epcot is 5 to at most 10 minutes. The "journey " to DHS took us about 20 minutes and was a scenic, pleasant walk for us.
We've never waited 30 minutes for a boat. Sorry you have. They can be slow, but not painfully slow to us.
All of this is NOT meant to be argumentative but rather another example It different likes and dislikes. Epcot is our favorite park. It sounds like MK may be yours.
Enjoy

Based on what you have told us, BC would be best. And honestly, your children will love Stormalong Bay! A lot!

Beach Club. WL is an isolated resort that isn't really convenient to anything. You can take a boat to MK, but other than that you are on a bus to any park. At Beach Club you can walk to Epcot in 5 minutes or walk/boat to Hollywood Studios in 20 minutes. You also can walk to the Boardwalk area in just a few minutes, and the dining options that are convenient to BC are so much better than those at WL -- at BC you can eat at the BC/YC restaurants, the Swolphin restaurants, Boardwalk, or Epcot (assuming you have park hoppers). It also sounds like Storm Along Bay would be a great fit for your trip. In fact, it seems like a bit of a hassle to get from WL to Epcot for meals -- I guess you would drive and park in the Epcot parking area and walk in?

All that being said, if you prefer WL then stay at WL.

For the type of trip you have planned, I would choose BC. It gives you more flexibility and closer amenities for most of what you want to do. We loved the proximity to Epcot WS, the easy walk to HS, and the pool at BC.
