Hi everyone. I need some help! my mom is planning our next trip to WDW, probably at Christmas. The biggest question right now is, which resort do we want to stay at? On our last few trips we've stayed at Moderates (Both sides of Port Oleans, I wish I knew the abbreviations, but i'm new at this), but this time we want to do something in the Deluxe range. My mom wants to stay at the Polynesian, but I want to try the Beach Club. For a group of 4 (two kids, 15 (me) and 11 (my little sis), which do you folks think would be a better choice? We've been to WDW about 20 times, and we're still stuck on this issue. Any opinions? Thanks in advance!

We will be going to the YC/BC, I have heard the pool is great. I have never stayed at either though.

Welcome to the DIS!!!

I stayed at the Polynesian and the Beach Club on my Christmas trip last year.

I think it depends on what park your family likes better. I really liked the Polynesian. It was great for getting to the MK and Epcot, but I really liked taking the boat back to the resort at night. All rooms have a day bed so you won't have to share a bed with your sister.

The BC is also really nice. I stayed in the villas side and it was great. StormAlong Bay was really cool and it was warm enough to swim, even in the first week of the year. If your family loves to swim, then I would go with the BC. I'm not sure about daybeds. Does anyone know?

Hi there..

Being a Mom myself... I would have to go with whatever Mom wants...

Maybe try poly this time... and BC then next time.. or if you are going for a week or more - why not do a Poly/BC split?

BC does have a gorgeous pool.. but Poly is right on the monorail.

Still... I would have to go with whatever Mom thinks.... you will have a great vacation either way.

>>^..^<<

Of the two, I prefer the BC. I love the easy walk to Epcot and SAB. I do wish the BC had a regular food court, though. They have Beaches and Cream, but it's not as convenient IMHO. We really loved the Cape May Clambake for dinner.
The Polynesian is just not my cup of tea. The rooms are spacious and the monorail is nice, though.

I have to agree that the person who pays ultimately should be the one who makes the final decision. I think that you would be really happy at the Polynesian. The room will be bigger and you will have the monorail for transportation. Since you seem to live in New York the idea of a New England beach theme is not that exotic. The Polynesian will be like nothing you could see here. While Storm Along Bay is a great pool, the Polynesian also has an awesome pool with a really cool waterslide. I urge you to accept her choice with gratitude!;) You will love the Polynesian.

As a mom, I'm open to my family's opinion!

For kids your ages, I'd say definitely go for the BC (or YC). We split our trip last December between the Polynesian and the YC. Our kids (ages 11 and 8) preferred the YC.

The pool is awesome, and our older kids love Epcot and MGM, both of which are so easily accessible to the BC

Offer to keep an eye on your sis! BC is so centrally located in WDW. You and your sister will be able to get around independently more easily than you would from the Polynesian. Point out that your mom and dad would have more time to themselves! That would sell me!

Bottom line: either way you can't go wrong. Yours is a dilemma I'd love to have.

Of course i'll be happy with whatever my mom decides, but I would love to try BC. I suggested doing a split, but she thinks (and I agree) that it would be rather inconvenient to switch resorts half way through the trip. And of course i'm greatful for anything at all, because I know that she doesn't have to take us. I've been watching the vacation DVD and checking out some information on the web, and i'm sure i'll be happy at the Polynesian. It is her choice, after all, she's the one paying :D . Thanks for the advice, everyone!

Sorry if I sounded like a preachy/naggy mother. I am sure that you are very appreciative and it is your vacation, too. I agree with you that splitting a vacation may be inconvenient...especially if you are going during the holidays.

I hope you have a great vacation. You really will love either of those resorts. Have a wonderful trip!

Both resorts have advantages and I think either one would be wonderful! But my choice would be the BC. It's so close to Epcot and the Boardwalk and you can even walk to Disney Studios.

Stormalong Bay pool is (JMO) the best pool at any Disney resort. The kids would love it -- adults find it fun, too!

The atmosphere is so relaxed; Cape May is a wonderful place for breakfast or dinner. You have to try Beaches and Cream, too.

But either way you go, it will be terrific!

crs7568 - you didn't sound like a preachy/naggy mother. I was kinda afraid I had come off as an ungreatful, selfish teen.

I talked to my mom about it, and she's really set on doing the Polynesian this time, but she's agreed that we can check out the Beach Club - eat at the Cape May Cafe and just take a look around. If we all like it, she promised to strongly consider it for our next trip.

Thanks to everyone, again! This board seems so welcoming!
