We are a family of 4 with 2 young children (DS4, DD7). I currently have a reservation with BWI but not sure if I should switch to BC because of stormalongbay pool. I've also heard BC has a better room compare to BWI. Please help me to decide which resort I should stay in Aug, 2008 ? Thanks.

Just my opinion but I kinda steered clear of the Beach/Yacht Club Resorts because of the pool area. It just seemed too big and spread out and too hard to keep track of your kids. I didn't like the idea of the little current thing in the pool either. I had read a thread about the pool area. I think if you do a search on this site, it will perhaps bring up the thread about the sab pool because I can't remember the exact thing I typed in to bring it up when I was researching this particular pool area. Alot of people love it but it just was a turnoff for me and seemed that it would be way too overcrowded PLUS I also read the pool hrs. aren't the best either. Goodluck in whatever you choose.

We don't spend much time at the pool. I have also heard that SAB is to large to feel comfortable with small children. Room wise....I like them both...not much difference. The BC is a little quieter the the BW. My family likes BW the best.

Try this link. I guess if you strictly keep your young ones in the sandy area with it is zero entry and you are watching them closely, then it might be ok. Seriously, if you do research and use the seach engine on this site and pull up stuff about stormalong bay, there will be postives and negatives. You'll have to figure out if it is a choice for you and your family. I think the Boardwalk is a cool place. Never stayed there and don't know much about the pool except the Keister coaster slide which probably is too much for your kids ages. We personally booked at the AKL and really liked what the pool there offered with zero entry, decent slide but not a huge one. Have you considered a moderate like POFQ or POR? Their pools seem a little more kid freindly for the younger crowd, especially the serpent slide. Goodluck to you though:thumbsup2

Definately BW...I liked the resort better and Stormalong Bay is way too intense for little children..There is a current area and an area where you enter and it is 10 ft deep..surprised me!

The rooms are the equal...

Beach is my vote...I stayed at the BWI and the walk to the room was LONG and its a bit loud at night. We LOVE the Beach Club!

Another vote for BWI. :thumbsup2 Awesome place, and they too have a nice pool. BC is nice but I wouldn't change just for SAB. The BWI has so much to offer and your kids will not be bored.:)

BC, there is so much more to it then just SAB. We loved our stay there in Sept and hope to go back there this year. So peaceful.

BWI (& YC, btw) is much quieter & less congested than BC. we found the BC lobby, pool & common areas (including the halls during all hours of the night:sad2: ) just waaaaay too noisy and/or crowded (fyi, this is from multiple visits to both ~ both my kids & my 2 nephews greatly prefer the BW pool & resort also).
both certainly are beautiful resorts though.
:)

We purposely stay at BCV when we want the pool experience.

Yes, you have to watch your children and there is a lot of space to play with the sand pool. The other side is enjoyable for Mom and Dad with the kids.

The area is heavily patroled to keep out non-guests. You may not get the chair you want, you'll get a chair - they make sure.

They tune their hours to the flow of the guests according to the lifeguard I spoke with in Sept. 07.

I have stayed at both and I prefer the Boardwalk. I really like the boardwalk at night with the entertainers and places to eat/drink. The ability to walk to both Epcot and Hollywood studios is a plus. Boardwalk seems quiter than the beach club although SAB is a cool pool the BW pool is really nice also. The bar/lounge at the BW is the best in all of Disney. I think the rooms are about the same. They are close enough to each other where you can enjoy all of the amenities (except the pools) so you will be happy with either. I think BW has a better location and just "feels" better than the BC.

BC by far. We have stayed at both and by far prefer the Beach Club.
SAB is an awesome pool, the best on property pool, for sure! The little ones area with the sand bottom and area to dig can not be beat. Children the ages of yours would not be in the part of SAB with the current (which is pretty gentle by the way), so that should not be a worry for you.
The pool at the Boardwalk was nice, but not SAB.
The rooms are comparable.
We just love everything about the BC
Have a Great Trip

My kids (4, 4, 6, 9, and 11) LOVED the pool at BC - I never felt they weren't safe, and the younger ones loved the sand bottom. It's a nice walk to MGM and Epcot - we rarely used the boats.

We have stayed at both. I prefer the BC, but love both hotels.
At the BWI we had a room that overlooked the boardwalk and enjoyed all of the activities and restaurants; however, every night we were awakened by people going home from the bars and clubs (they weren't that bad - just singing or laughing and talking loud). Rooms that don't overlook the BW are quiter but you don't get to watch all of the street performers from your balcony.
At the BC, we didn't even use SAB because of the weather but it is wonderful and my children would love the zero-entry portion. They did love the beach (just playing in the sand) and the playground. We occasionally walked over to the Boardwalk, but were able to enjoy the peacefulness of the BC. And now they have added a campfire/movie on the beach at night. This just sounds like a lot of fun.
Either way, I think that you will be happy.
Happy Valentines, :flower3:

Thanks for everyone's advice. I really love both resorts but decided to change my reservation to BC. There seems to be more activites offered in BC (ex, campfire, characters in the Lobby, movie by the poolside and etc) and boardwalk is still within a short walking distance for us to see the entertainment at night.
