Bc or Boardwalk?

Hi all!

This is our first stay on Disney propriety and we are excited!

Right now, I have a gift of magic room booked for our first part of our stay is 6 days at the BC in a Standard view. Now, For $12 more a night, I could get a garden view at the Boardwalk on a passholder rate. Would need to swap the reservation to my hubby as he is the one with the annual pass. The second half is at AKL for 3 days which we got a good price so I don't want to change that (and I am excited to stay there!!!)

I liked the idea of the BC because of the pool and being so close to Epcot. I like the idea of the Boardwalk because of the Boardwalk

Questions :

Since the second half of the stay is at my name, would that cause problems with fasspasses and such? So we can book the whole stay?

Do you guys feel it's worth the trouble swapping from the BC to the Boardwalk?

I' stick with BC. It's easy enough to stroll on over to BW for dinner or entertainment (jelly rolls!).

Switching resorts will cause a split stay, regardless of the name on the reservation.

Personally Id go with BWI. I actually did almost same thing as you. Was booked at YC (prior to dog announcement) and decided to switch to BWI. Gave up Stormalong Bay but my son likes the look of the slide at BWI. Plus Im also doing AKL for a split stay.

BC doesnt appeal to me as much as BWI or YC.

I love all the Epcot resorts, including Swan/Dolphin and we always stay at one of them for at least part of every trip. For us, they are interchangeable, I just book which ever one is available and which ever one is less. Having said that, BC is my least favorite of the 3 Disney ones (I'm taking Swan/Dolphin out of the mix for this) because you aren't guaranteed a full balcony and I love sitting out on my balcony in the morning with my coffee or the evening with a glass of wine. I took Swan/Dolphin out because balcony rooms are a tad more and the only reason I stay there is because it's less. If the difference is only something like $20/per night I'm going to stay at one of the BW/BC/YC resorts. If it's more than say $50 per night, I'm staying at Swan/Dolphin.

If the only reason you are thinking of switching to the Boardwalk is to stroll on the Boardwalk, there is no need to switch. Anyone can stroll on the Boardwalk, see the evening entertainment, go to the restaurants, etc. It's literally a 5 minute walk from BC.

I like the theming and the pool at the Boardwalk better than BC. I also like that it's closer to DHS if you decide to walk there (which we like to do). However, we've had multiple noise issues at night BWI and I won't stay there anymore. When we stay at BW, we book a villa at BWV.

I prefer the location of the BW since it is closer to walk to DHS and Epcot. Also, typically, the resort does not share a bus to MK or AK.

We rule out the BC because of the balcony issue. No full balcony or patio is a deal breaker for us, we would rather stay at an EPCOT resort that has the best chance of a patio or full balcony.

However, we've had multiple noise issues at night BWI and I won't stay there anymore. When we stay at BW, we book a villa at BWV.

DW and I love the BWI. We have stayed there many times. We like the theming and I like having a balcony. We are not pool people so Stormalong Bay has no attraction for us. And the BWI is close enough to Epcot for us.

We always booked standard view and I guess we were lucky to have always gotten what I would call a garden view. We always ended up with a view of the courtyard or quiet pool.

I am afraid I can't help with the complexities of making the swap. Nor can I help as to whether the swap is worth the trouble. I like to keep things simple. Even split stays sound complex to me. But I am sure that if you can talk to the right person at Disney you can make it happen.

Sure! We've stayed at BWI and BWV multiple times (more times than I can count!). We've stayed in both standard rooms and on club level and I very deliberately request "quiet room" on my reservations. On our first stay there (in a standard room), there was an issue with one of the AC fans and it kept us up all night. We switched rooms the next day, but it was a pain. On another stay, we stayed standard, CL (again, deliberately asked for a quiet room) and we heard trucks beeping (the noise they make when they are in reverse) all morning long starting around 5:00 am. Another stay, CL cottages (not cheap!), someone started DRILLING into the wall directly behind our bed at 3:00 AM. After multiple calls to the "front desk" they stopped, but my DS couldn't get back to sleep and it completely ruined our park touring day. BWI comped us the night, but I wasn't looking for money. It didn't make up for the fact that we literally lost a whole day of our vacation. On our last stay there (last December), there was a water pipe burst in one of the restaurants and the hallway on our floor was completely soaked. That night, around 4:00 am, they decided to fix the pipe so someone was banging on metal all night long. Again, they comped us the night (although I didn't ask for it, just went to the front desk to be ASSURED this wasn't going to happen again) and the manager followed up with us the next day, which was nice (staff and management there are great). I just can't go back. The resort rooms are too close to the Boardwalk and restaurants, so I've found that even in standard rooms that don't overlook the Boardwalk, you can't be assured a quiet room. We have never had ANY issues on the villas side though and would stay there again in a heartbeat.
