My 10yo dd is asking to do the Bippity Boppity Boutique on our next cruise. Normally, I am against spending so much $ for something like that but then I think she is getting older so I should make those memories while I can. My question is - is the glitter manditory? She is not a huge fan of glitter and my DH hates the stuff! Can we request a glitter free appointment?

Certainly. Well, you won't say "no glitter" when you make the reservation, but when you show up just tell the Fairy Godmother in Training that you don't want that part.

I will let you know from experience though... upon entering the room, it is likely you will leave with some amount of glitter on you regardless. HOWEVER, it is not the same as craft glitter and does not stick half as back and is easier to wash off/out!

This was not our experience. My little girls have very fine hair and we were scrubbing "pixie dust" off their scalps for days- even after beach days. YMMV

Also, the dresses they sell at BBB are COVERED in glitter. If you don't want it everywhere, bring your own. We transported ours in large ziplock space saver bags to decrease luggage space and protect our clothes from glitter. They came out ok w/o too many wrinkles.

That said, my girls loved it and they play w/ the makeup and nail stuff still and they ask me to put in the hair extensions they got. The glitter was annoying, but worth it in the end.

Same here. Her scalp was sparkly for a long time. But it didn't get all over the house or anything.

I would recommend bringing your own dress as well, the price is a lot less without choosing a dress.
When my granddaughter did it, 5 minutes after she was done with the appt. she wanted out of that "itchy dress", we were lucky to get one picture of her with Minnie before we had to change her.

You can just tell them no glitter, there's a point where they will put the shield on the face and you can just skip that part... also if you get the bob on top of the head, if your girls have short hair, they will let the rest of the hair down if it doesn't reach the bob.... I think this was kind of dumb and I ended up tying up the rest of their hair in the back after the fact but I think it looked weird... we also brought our own dresses which saved a lot of $$$

I asked her to put just a little glitter in my daughter's hair. She didn't seem put off at all by the request and I was happy to not have glitter falling from my daughter's hair for days.
Just something to consider if your daughter hates glitter: the nail polish included in the package has glitter too. It obviously doesn't get all over everything like the glitter in the hair can, but you may want to bring different polish if she doesn't like it.

Thank you all! We will definitely bring one of her 'non-itchy' dresses and ask to skip the pixie dust. :) I think she will be fine with the nail polish.
