BBB or princess breakfast.

I think I know which one we will do, but I'm just kinda second guessing it. My daughter is princess obsessed. I am leaning to the princess breakfast and we can do our own little makeover in the room beforehand. (Doing it on our OBB day, so we have the morning completely open). I planned to buy a dress before we go or pick one up once there.

Of course now BBB is going to open and I know my daughter would love it, but I can't do both.

I think getting the princess interactions especially now that it's back to normal will be so so amazing for her and she won't even know, it's more me and the FOMO because I always said I would take her to BBB someday..

That’s a tough choice! How old is your daughter exactly? Almost at the age limit or still young enough that “Disney Magic” would go a long way? I feel like bringing a dress and a handwritten letter (left on the nightstand by who else, the fairy godmother. Maybe get some glitter to sell it) stating that she is formally invited by the princesses to a special breakfast, and then having some time in the morning to get her dressed up and prepared to meet them could go a long way! Does BBB have unique princess interactions at all or is it just getting them dressed up?

I don’t believe I ever did the BBB as a child but I sure do remember getting to go to Ariel’s Grotto, and thinking that was such a fun experience, so I think meeting princesses and getting one on one time with them would be more magical.

I would do the Princess breakfast unless you only have one child or are planning on doing BBB for all the children. I can see another child feeling left out if one gets to do BBB and the other does not. The Princess breakfast lets everyone participate. You may even get more character interactions out of the breakfast.

Oh my gosh the letter is such a cute and amazing idea.

She will be 6 at the time of the trip.

From what I understand BBB doesn't come with any princess interactions. The higher packages used to come with front of the line access to see the princesses, but that wording was removed from the website prior to Covid, though reports still stated it happened.

If the princess breakfast is in budget, I would do that. Flip side, BBB would almost certainly be more affordable, given you are only doing one makeover versus breakfast for everyone, but I think the interactions with the princesses would be more meaningful. Especially if you are pretty good at hair and makeup - the in-hotel DIY makeover followed by the princess breakfast just seems like an opportunity you can't miss!

Princess interactions were where it’s at for my now teenage girls—sometimes for us as a happy medium was letting them wear a princess dress with fancy ears (and then bringing a change of clothes lol) to the park. But to this day they talk about when Cinderella’s stepsister told my kiddo “oh you love a trash can?” because she was wearing an I ❤️ Wall-E shirt, or whipping around napkins while dancing at character dinner, etc. Signature books are still a prized possession :)

Probably can’t go wrong with either choice as they are both special!

Just got more clarity it's only my daughter. My son has no desire what so ever. (I offered). He is getting to build a light saber.

Only my daughter and I will be doing to breakfast. I think I'm set on the breakfast but I just kinda wanted to get others opinions. The castle package for BBB is $200 and for just her and I to do the breakfast it's about $300 (this includes tip).

When we have done BBB at WDW, I always bought the dress in advance (costume from Amazon or JCPenney) and it would bring down the price significantly. JCPenney is having a sale right now.

We've done both. The princess breakfast was still at Ariel's Grotto when we did it. My dd loved both so much, but I would choose the breakfast over BBB. The princesses were so kind and really in character. We had autographs and photos with each princess and they all chatted with my dd for a while.

I love the letter idea! You could also take dd to BBB to buy some accessories or nail polish, too. Maybe a tiara or something. I bought dresses on Ebay, so they were the official BBB ones that we would have bought at the park, but they cost less and I wanted to make sure they had her size.

My dd loved being all fancied up at BBB and kept her hairstyle in place for like 3 days lol. There were no characters there.

I think the makeover in your room would be really special, and you could look up hair styles that you could do. Basically BBB is a bun with tons of hair spray and glitter, plus a little tiara that sits on the bun. They also have hair extensions, too. They also did dd's nails, which would be easy for you to do. At the end of the makeover the girls got a BBB sash and a special pink bag to hold their makeup and nail polish, which they get to bring home.

As an aside, are the evil stepsisters from Cinderella at the Princess breakfast?? They are my favorite characters!
This I dunno, we saw them back in the day wandering the parks. They were THE BEST. Mocked me, my wife, heck my two little girls as well. The look my kiddo gave at the “You love a trash can” was amazing. I just love character interactions. Even on a recent visit I yelled at Chip N Dale how much I loved their new movie and they pointed at me and started dancing. (To my now teenage daughters’ 80% horror/20% amusement.) But character meals—and we did a bunch of em—were always such a treat to experience with them when they were little.

I absolutely adore all of the characters, but the villains are where it's at! Even as a little girl, I always looked forward to the evil stepsisters in the Christmas parade. They can get away with so much more than the princesses! The character interactions make Disneyland so special.

What did you decide on?
We don't go until October but the princess breakfast. I got her a really nice quality Disney brand belle dress from the new Disney section at Target for 40% off. I'm going to write her a letter from fairy godmother in some glitter ink.. and have some makeup and nail polish and surprise her in the morning for the breakfast. I watched YouTube videos and while she would love the makeover, she has no idea it exists and she will soak up getting to interact with them at the breakfast.

@katyringo I think you made the right choice. This may be my own personal opinion, but I am a huge fan of character breakfasts/character interaction. If she's into the Disney Princess characters, than getting to actually meet them and get autographs/pictures with them may very well be the highlight of her day or the mabye the entire trip.

Sounds like a great idea and less stress trying for another reservation.

Belle was the first princess dress my little girl ever got and has been a firm favourite for a while now.

That's a wonderful idea. She'll love it! That's a great sale on the dress, too.
