BBB looks like great fun!! Regarding the dresses, are they worth the extra money, are they basically the same as the dresses at walmart/target??
Can they be purchased only at BBB??

Thanks IN Advance!!!

The dresses are not the same as the Walmart selection. My dd has the Princess Aurora dress. The bodice is stretchy velvet and the skirt is tulle with a silver pattern. (Sorry, i"m not the best at describing fabrics) But, the quality is a lot better than what is available here. We got the dress a few days before her BBB appointment and it was around $60.

The Princess dresses are definitely better quality than the $20 ones you'll see at Target and Walmart. But they are still itchy, especially for sensitive skin. I ended up getting DD a dress from My Dress Up Trunk for just $20. Soooo soft!

We bought our daughter's dress at the Disney Store (you can check the online site). I think it was around $25 (off season for costumes). She chose Ariel, and it was a great dress/costume. She got tons of attention, too, because an Ariel "fin" dress is not as common. I think it's because the Ariel dress in the WDW stores is not that great. The wedding dress is better, but I didn't want to pay $60 for a white dress for DD to wear on rides. In fact, I would recommend that if your DD wants to be Jasmine or Ariel (with the fin), buy your own, and take it. I didn't like either of the ones they had there (too skimpy), and would not have let my DD choose them. Several moms at the BBB felt the same way, too.

I don't have my pictures downloaded yet, maybe when I do I'll try to post one!

I just wanted to say thank you for posting the link to mydressuptrunk.com on the BBB frequently asked questions thread. I ordered a Cinderella dress, head band, choker, and the fullness skirt for only $42-including shipping. I'm making my daughter a Cinderella themed Easter basket. It hasn't arrived yet, but it looks like a great deal!

I am so conflicted. I am not worried about the itchiness..... I just want a beautiful dress. We don't have a disney store around so I can't check them out.

How much do the dresses run in WDW? I have to buy 3.... Anyone have any pictures of the dresses at WDW?

The dresses start at $60. More for the deluxe ones. FYI: The ones sold at Disney World are not the same as the ones at the Disney Store.

The dresses you can buy at D are ten times better then the ones at discount stores. They are expensive but the quality and fabrics are better. My DD constantly complains about her dresses from Target itching, but she never complains about the one we bought at D.

I agree about ariel and jasmine I didn't feel they were worth the $60 but I think the belle dress is worth it.

If your child is going to take great care of the gown, then I would purchase an expensive one. My daughters wore their dresses an hour before deciding they were hot. THey asked to change.
For this year, i bought a sleeping beauty dress form TDS for $6.00 on clearance and my other daughter was mulan for Halloween so she will use that . Now i really won't care how long they were the dresses. It isn't worth it for me to spend all the money.

I agree that it isn't worth it to spend the money on a DW dress. We took our Wal-Mart Cinderella dress with us and it was just fine. She put the dress on before she went in for her appointment...just as the girl's who picked their dresses at BBB did. The quality of the DW dresses was nice, but not 60.00 worth of nice. I would rather use the 40.00 difference to let dd pick out accessories to go with her 20.00 Wal-mart dress.

I would also say it depends on how much you plan on using the dress. Also for us the full package of the BBB made it all worth it from her going "shopping" to pick out her dress, shoes, ect.. and them bringing it to her in a white bag int he dressing room to get dressed, ect.. Well worth every penny for us!

I was wondering about the whole wearing the dress afterwards. Do most of you take your girls on to the park in their dresses or just wear it out to dinner or what? I would think the girls would be uncomfortable in the parks all dressed up. I am trying to decide whether to make DD an appointment or not. Do you see alot of girls in the parks dressed up?

I got dd 2 at the time a cinderella dress of ebay and used her Christmas shoes and she wore it the whole day at the magic kingdom - she loved it so she didn't complain
plus i think they love the compliments that it doesn't bother them!

hehe
dd is blondish and wants a snow white dress - dh said it won't match her hair - who cares!!! I think she will look cute in whatever SHE picks out!

My daughter has brown hair and hazel eyes, and I thought she would look beautiful in the red Belle Christmas dress. I tried to talk her into it. But she is determined to be Cinderella, so I ordered her the blue dress from mydressuptrunk.com. It came yesterday (only took 2 or 3 days) and is a beautiful blue color. I think she will be thrilled (she is getting it for Easter).

We have several princess dresses...

Dress 1 was a Disney Store Cindy Halloween costume. I bought a size bigger than DD and altered it *very easily* just by sewing the sides in a little tighter, and tacking up the skirt in a couple of places (so it looked draped, like some costumes do anyway.) I like it bigger because a) it won't be as itchy cause it isn't as tight, b) you can put a layer under it more easily c) I like a LONG balldress! and d) longevity. She wore it for a Halloween party, for trick or treating, and then to CRT and for about a half hour at the park. (It got in her way.) She also wore it to my birthday party that December, for NY Eve, and some little girl has worn it for at least half an hour every Saturday since then. That's about 120 Saturdays, folks. Its been washed three times, and I un-altered it when it was about 6 months old (DD grew!)

We have since purchased another Disney Store dress and received as a gift a WDW dress. Both are not as old as the venerable Orginal Cinderella, but they are holding up very well to almost constant use.

The two WalMart dresses we have (Tink and Snow White) are very cute but they are not holding up-- I washed Tink and had to pretty much put it back together (straps came unsewed, several decorative things fell off) Snow White is the newest dress, but its is considered by all to be too scratchy and is rarely worn (although Snow White is everyone's favorite princess.)

Dd4 got an Aurora dress from BBB and it was beautiful...like a little ballgown. The quality was so much nicer than the ones at Wal-Mart and Target. The fabric was prettier and more luxurious, the skirt was fuller, and the whole dress was just better put together. Also, the skirt had a lining so the tulle wasn't right against her legs (she has complained about scratchiness on other dress up clothes). I had dd wear it again for Halloween to help justify the cost, but I probably would have gotten it for her anyways...she was so adorable.

Be on the look-out for a red-haired Snow White when we go in May!!:rotfl:
