Never a guarantee on the AP discounts. This year, the discounts offered to GP, AP and FL Residents were disappointing, IMHO, and we go to WDW every year in the fall and winter and stay at deluxe level.

We are going to WDW the first week of December, staying at BWI and the best discount I was able to get for us was 20%. I grabbed that when the GP discounts came out and the discounts never got any better for us. Others may have had different experiences. We qualify for any of the three levels of discounts. Had I not gotten the RO when the GP was offered, we wouldn't be going. We usually stay at the Yacht Club, and that wasn't even available at all for our travel dates.

In the future, I will be booking BB RO, so that I don't have to play the "wait and see game" to find out what the discounts will be. I have no problem putting down whatever deposit they want and cancelling later if we are not able to go.

It comes down to supply and demand. It all depends on how the rooms are filling up through out the year. If they can get all their rooms booked early in the year, they will have no need to offer discounts to anyone later in the year.

AP discounts come out very close to your travel dates and the offer is usually good almost up to the day of travel, which is the best thing about the AP discount. You can get the discount on a resort even when the general public discount has expired. It is great for last minute travelers. The discount is sometimes better than the GP and BB discount, and sometimes it is less. Last March I got 37% of BC while the BB was 35% and the GP discount was 30%. But there is limited availability and I haven't been able to apply it to any of our other trips since that March trip.

A bounce back offer will usually include all of the resorts, only excluding three bedroom villas, Little Mermaid rooms and campsites. And usually all of the resort categories, deluxe, moderate and value, will get the same discount.

For example, with a free dining bounce back, all resorts would be eligible. But when a general public discount is offered, they usually exclude resorts, most often POFQ, for example. So with a BB offer you could get POFQ but with the GP offer you would not. This year the free dining general public offer excluded POR whereas the BB included it, for example. I don't remember all the different exceptions.

With the room only discount bounce back offers, usually all deluxe resorts would get a 35% discount and all moderates would get 20%. I think value resorts have a discount too, although it is never mentioned on the brochures. But the general public RO discount usually has different discounts. It is usually 30% for certain deluxe resorts and 20% for other deluxes. For example, Beach Club had a 20% general public discount this fall while the Yacht club had a 30% discount. I've seen 20% discount for certain moderates and 5% for other moderates, or none at all.

One thing that is true with all discount offers is that certain room types can be either excluded or have very limited availability.
