We are getting new windows!!! We are VERY excited especially because they are going to do a bay window in the living room. I have always wanted a bay window. The window is quite large.....like 10 foot wide and from the ceiling almost down to my knee.

Anyway, I will need to get new window treatments and wondered if anyone knows of any websites with bay window ideas. Right now, I have vertical fabric blinds....but thinking of trying to do something different.

Thanks

Lisa

BTW, the windows we currently have are the original windows.....47 years old!!!!!

Congrats on your new windows!! Who's doing them?

Anyway, we have bay windows in our livingroom (which we use as an office) & our master bedroom. We just have textured verticals but one of my neighbors (who has the same model as we do), has pleated shades, with jabots as top treatments. It looks really pretty. I know she got her original jabots at JCPenny's, but since then she just got some special rod at Home Depot & she purchased fabric & just made her own. They look gorgeous. I don't know of any websites but if you go to Penny's you can always just look at what they have to get some ideas.

Good luck!!

Hi, I had the same problem but (x's2). I pondered over this whole window thing for months after we moved in. I decided to get the JC Penney catalog and look at the different curtains and styles. Then I would draw out different styles on each bay window to see if I liked scaloped, swag, or v-shaped.....or whatever. I ended up going with the v-shaped ones with the little tassles at the end. They look really good! I have yet to finish my dining room yet! Oh, also they do have a curtain rod specially made for a bay window, but I just didn't want to do that kind once the lady showed it to me according to the curtains I had picked out. It may work for you and your window-but I wanted to let you know it is available because I had no clue at the time. Good Luck! I searched the web for bay window curtains and went to books on how to make curtains for ideas for the window, but the best was the JC Penney catalog!

We are going with Wallside....alot of my friends and neighbors were very happy with them.

Thanks

I will check out my JC Penney catalog...

I did see that curtain rod online for a bay window too..

We have verticles on both our bay windows, I looked at my neighbors who have curtains and I just liked the verticles better.

What is Wallside? I have the same window problem. I just don't know what to do with it.

You should be very happy with Wallside....have heard lots of positive comments about them.

Have fun decorating your new window! Window treatments can change the look of the whole room!

I'm sure you will LOVE your bay window, I love mine!! :teeth:
Ours has a seat in it, the cat loves laying there to watch the birds at the feeder. I have cabinets and drawers underneath, for craft supplies, and I painted those cream (our family room colors are country blue, dusty rose and cream) and then did some stenciling on them. As for the curtains, I ordered mine out of a Penneys catalog, they are basically cream, with country blue ruffles and bows. I have a valance going all across the top of the bay window and then curtains hanging down the sides. They don't "close", but we live out in the country so it really doesn't matter. :)
