Bay Lake Towers DVC?

I gotta ask this. Maybe it's the fact that I'm so new to DVC that's making me do this. I'm going to use that as the excues anyway so please endulge me.

All the paperwork to make the new addition at the Contemporary a timeshare has been long-since filed with the state of FL as required by FL timeshare law. All of this information has been found, shown and proven under the premise that these are public documents.

Hence my question.

Why all the secrecy (I understand Disney doesn't have to declare it until they want to and are ready) and more importantly; why all the speculation. BLT is a timeshare. That is a publically documented legal fact. Unless Disney is planning to start a timeshare company other than DVC or sell the property to another timeshare company for resale (yea, that's gonna happen), BLT is DVC. Why all the speculation and inuendo? It wouldn't even be practical for Disney to change its mind at this point from a filing's standpoint.

I don't understand why everybody's walking on eggshells (outside CM's for obvious reasons) and telling everyone they have inside information that BLT is DVC. Woooo. "I know a secret!"

It's going to be for sale at some point and it is DVC. I could have made this post 6 months ago.

Somebody clue me in on what I missed here. I really don't "get it".

I wasn't involved with DVC when Eagle Pines was discussed. However, when I bought DVC the papers I had to sign said something about I knew there would not be an Eagle Pines DVC, or maybe something informing me that there perhaps would not be. I don't remember, but maybe this hesitation has something to do with that.

Bobbi:)

It is not really a DVC until they sell some units. Until this happens they can change their mind on what to do with it.

I think Disney is smart..they do it this way to cause lots of anticipation and excitemnt. So many people are ready to buy the day it is up for sale. (us included):)

Due respect; do you understand the public PR NIGHTMARE Disney would endure if they did this at this point? It wouldn't even be worth the cost of the building itself.

Again; I don't get it. Clue me in.

Anybody wanna make a bet? I have an inordinate amount of money that says it will be DVC (based on what we have known for quite a while). Anybody want to take the other side of the bet? Sounds like some of you are willing. I know I am willing to take my side. :)

Agreed. Never argued that point. :)

All I'm proclaiming is that it IS DVC and that has been a known for quite a while. Why all the denial and hesitancy to believe it (from the public-at-large)?

There is still internal push and shoving within Disney about the BLT use. Also, prematurely releasing BLT information will more then likely impact pending sales at AKV and SSR. Disney is still has 15-17 months of construction on the tower, and that may the biggest reason.

Rumor has it that with the pending announced sell-out of SSR at the end of the month, BLT will be made official with pre-sales starting July. :listen:

I understand all that. I GET why Disney ain't saying nuttin'.

What I don't get is why we keep seeing (day after day after day after day, et all) threads speculating as to whether it is or it isn't. "Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't." That's all my entire post was questioning. :)

I'm sure this question can be put quite comfortably to bed. BLT is DVC. Give it a rest and wait for the announcement. Speculate the announcement if we must but let's put to bed whether it is or it isn't. That's no longer (and hasn't been for quite a while now) a debatable point. That's all I was trying to say. :)

Disney has never denied that is DVC. Their official comment has been "no comment".

I love the term "pre sales." Is that like "pre boarding?" LOL

I used pre-sale because they can not sell you an unit until the resort gets its occupancy certification, which won't be until late summer/fall of 2009. If sales started July this year and bought a contract, your deed can not be filed until the building has passed all inspection and recied its occupancy certificate. So the term pre-sales is appropriate. Unlike SSR and AKV which is open and you can actually use your ownership.

All this excitement generated on the boards over BLT is a bit of the fun & magic for some people - including myself. Its like tracking Santa with Norad. (Now, don't go telling me that in reality that there is no Santa.) :duck:

No official announcement means no PR nightmare if they change their minds and don't make it DVC. Just because papers were filed with the state, they can still change their minds until DVD actually sells and declares units in to DVC.

A worse PR nightmare would be an announcement, complete with artists renderings (like Eagle Pines) and then change their mind to made it convention accommodations.

And Disney DVC division seems to have survived that one pretty well. ::yes::

As for why some people here still call it a rumor, that because any project that isn't official is called a rumor. It might be a mighty good rumor, or strongly substantiated, but it is still a rumor.

I don't think the semantics and how other people view unofficial information is worth getting worked up over. Everyone has their own way of digesting information and I think there's room for everyone's way of thinking without disparaging those thoughts.

Makes for interesting reading, passes the time, lol, and by the way, What do you mean there is no Santa?? come on now, what's next the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy? And don't even tell me that Tinker Bell doesn't exist, I would be crushed!!!

Not wanting to hijack this thread completely but . . . I didn't say that there wasn't a Santa! I asked "don't go telling me that in reality that there is no Santa" - meaning "there IS a Santa, and I won't brook any argument to the contrary". Santa has been VERY nice to me over the years, let me tell you! I got a DCL cruise from him, and I wasn't exactly an angel for the previous year either!!

My "Santa" comment was in direct response to "let's put to bed whether it is or it isn't" comment over BLT. Some of us are having fun speculating on BLT and someone is telling us to "can it", which isn't very nice. We are having fun over this speculation, regardless of what the facts are. :teeth:

LOL, How do I go about getting one of those Santa Cruises? lol, Anyway, Facts tend to be over-rated, At least you gave me conformation that there is a Santa!!! Now I can sleep at night. Maybe if your really bad this year you will get another one of those Santa Cruises!

Actually, I was REALLY hoping he'd get me some of the GCV or BLT this year (if GCV fails). I think Santa's going to come through on one of them for me! :santa:

From all that I've heard, BLT is going to be a wonderful addition to the DVC resorts, probably the best DVC's done to-date. The Grand Cali is the best Disney hotel I've stayed in (comparing DL, DLP and WDW resorts I've stayed in), so the GCV is also going to be another winner. What a great year for us DVC'ers! Much excitement over these 2 new beautiful properties.

there has been at least 3 maybe 4 - DVC resorts that were announced and we even saw the plans on 3 - guess what everyone except Ep - ended up being Marriott. looks like Ep will go to 4 seasons.

don't know how the other DVC members feel - but boy that to me wasn't right to DVC members.

besides remember AKV - they announced it because of it leaking to the press and they had to send out 3 mailing - when before it is only one.

they want everything to be ready - make sure the members know about first - then announce it to the public.

despite it getting me upset too - would rather wait and make sure it is definitely DVC - than get all excited (would you believe actually planned a trip to California when the first DVC was announced there - only to watch it go to Marriott instead of us) only to be disappointed. not to mention the trip to Paris....:moped:

beside - the race an'it over until it is over.

just because everything points to it being a DVC - doesn't mean it will be. As Dean pointed out - Disney may go with DVC II - and we (DVC I) owners couldn't trade into it. Hope not.

but this or other situations might happen.

Plus until CR is happy - don't except any announcement. still hoping for July. (like I did May). although with the sale people being told not to take vacations for several months. It definitely sounds like BLT is coming.

the walkway has been almost completely - but it is still not attached to CR. So assuming that someone is not happy.:worried:

would rather have everyone happy and the annoucement being held - until everything and everyone is ready. Despite me losing it a time or two.

I booked a trip to DL in October this year to try for the GCV. If it fails due to timing, well . . . time to have a great Disneyland vacation and move on.
