I'm not sure how long these videos have been on the web. They look like CAD and Maya animations/renderings of what Bay Lake Tower is going to look like (both the interior and exterior). I think there are about 6 or 7 short clips that play randomly.

BLT renderings

Here are a few observations/opinions I've made from watching this:
--The building's exterior seems to be the majority of what's actually contemporary about it. The rooms look a bit too traditional with only a hint of contemporary design. I can see this being a cutting edge contempo design for say 1999.....but not 2009.
--Is it just me, or does the location and placement of the BLT kind of make the iconic A-frame Contemporary resort seem a bit less significant, both conceptually and visually?

Maybe I'm just being a picky prude after having gone through some rough stuff this week......but I'm sticking to my thoughts for the time being. :confused3 It looked pretty impressive in October, but I'm not sure it's a place I'd want to stay at.

*dodges flying tomatoes and rocks* :scared:

I know what you mean about the location. It kind of does try to compete with the A-Frame.

I'm not overly keen on the exterior either, but some of the interior does look nice.

I don't think the building takes away from the a frame CR - I think it compliments it a bit. The interior is not 2009, but it's nice. I will definitely try and stay there, though it seems hard now because it's new. We own at OKW and have toyed with adding on at LT but right now we're trying not to spend too much.

Did you all notice in the bathroom video that when there is steam, a Donald Duck image will appear in the mirror? That's cute.

I like how in that old news interview both monorails are comming out of the south end of the tower! Hmmmm

I'm directionally challenged. I always assumed the monorail entrance/exit ran east and west.

The MK area is easy to remember. When you stand on Main Street facing the castle, you are facing due North.

Oddly enough, I knew that. For some reason I can always find north. I just never take into consideration that the orientation of the Contemporary isn't 100% east of the MK and is facing north/south.

How much does DVC cost on average per month? Do you get to stay at all the resorts like the new one mentioned?

I wish I could answer that for you.....we are still learning it. But to sort of answer your question, DVC folks can stay there. As for the cost, its all in the point system.....

I bought into BLT and it's 220 points for a 1bd nothing view. We paid $16k for the 50 year contract. And if you give me a moment I can find the rack rate but if I remember correctly it's $453 a night for a 1bdroom

Ok, I can't find the link for the post I saw but you can quote your vacation at BLT on the disney website. Sorry I wasn't more help.

DVC is essentially a timeshare program whereby you purchase a number of points (once) at your "home" resort. You then spend those points to stay at a given DVC property (or any number of other options literally throughout the world) based on where you are staying, the time of year you are staying and the size of the accommodation you are staying in.

Home resort privilege allows you to book a stay in your home resort 11 months prior, and other DVC resorts 7 months prior. You can stay at any DVC you please, as long as there is availability of course.

You can also stay there for cash without being a DVC member.

You pay yearly dues based on which home resort is you belong to. The amounts vary but run roughly around $1000 per year.

You can bank your points into the next year if you don't use them all in the current year, and you can borrow points from the next year to use in the current year if you wish.

In a three year scenario you can use all of the points for those three years if you bank all of the current year's points into the following year, and once the following year arrives (making it the current year) you can borrow all the points from the following year (into the current year) giving you three years of points to work with in that current year. It's a handy feature if you have a big celebration, or what to do the safari, ect.

Every year on your anniversary date (in your use year) you are issued your points (the amount you purchased, or the amount you have remaining if you used some).

You can have more than one contract at more than one DVC effectively giving you more than one home resort. ::yes::

That is the very basic DVC info. Very basic! Hope it helps a bit.
