Besides the pool with the slide is there also a water play area for kids, similar to what Kidani has?

Well, you could take Pete's advice from the Dis Podcast, just go swim in Bay Lake, it's huge and not very deep.:laughing:

If you have ever listened to Pete, you know that is totally the opposite of what he says.

From the Disney site regarding the pool:
Pools
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort boasts its own beautiful Bay Cove Pool, a zero-entry pool, exclusively for Guests of Bay Lake Tower. The main feature of Bay Cove Pool is a 20-foot high and 148-foot long water slide. There is also a separate ADA approved accessible slide. Near the pool is a children's interactive water play area, whirlpool spa, lockers, changing area and the Cove Bar. Disney-trained lifeguards are on duty during slide operating hours.

Guests of Bay Lake Tower also have access to Bay Lake Pool, a round, quiet pool which is shallow on the outside and deeper in the center, and to the larger pool at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which includes a 17-foot high curving slide.

So I'm guessing the answer is yes! :cool1:

i wanted to bring this up again because theres a blurb on the dvc site about a water play area for bay lake tower and yet i dont actually see it in any of the numerous pics ive seen so far that have been taken of the resort

anyone know the deal here?

It's to the back left of the pool area - it looks like a dark blue Mickey shape in photos.

It looks to be fun area for kids but not as elaborate as Kidani's and smaller size wise.

:goodvibes

I was just wondering, does BLT have 2 pools? Bay Lake Pool and Bay Cove Pool? It kind of sounds that way. It would sure be nice to have the extra quiet pool.

No, but the Contemporary has a feature pool with a slide and a quiet pool, which is called Bay Lake Pool. This pool is right on Bay Lake.

Speaking of the BLT pool...hypothetical question

Since BLT have access to CR pools, but CR guests are not permitted at BLT pool, anyone know what would happen if CR pool had to close - either for renovation or some kind of emergency?

Do we think they would send the CR folks over to the Poly/GF pools, or would they open it up to all guests at that point? Is it even big enough?

I think in the past when the pools at one of the monorail resorts have closed, that the other pools at the other two monorail resorts have been made available. That said, if the rumor becomes true that the BLT pool is going to be card-access restricted, I don't see how the CR folks are going to be able to get to it, so Disney might just continue to make them go to the other monorail resort pools. Interesting question...

I know - its really the first time that the "resort" and the "villas" are being so separated. VWL/WL, BCV/BC AKL/AKV are not like this - guests can go back and forth between all the amenities. This will be interesting.

I think one of the reasons that the BLT will be for DVC only, and I dont think it will be available for CR guests even when the main pool(s) are being renovated, is because the BLT pool is so small. The Poly and GF each have 2 pools that will hold alot of guests .. we shall see.

Personally I think if there ever was an emergency pool closing situation with the Contemporary pool, it would make sense that their guests would be allowed to swim at Bay Lake Tower since it's located right there. Plus it makes more sense then telling them take the Resort Monorail to the Polynesian or Grand Floridian or even the boat to the Wilderness Lodge so you can swim at those resorts if you feel like it.

Obviously that is a hypothetical situation and you don't expect it to ever happen because the Contemporay pool just got renovated, however you never know when something unexpected happens. For example back in 1999 when my family and I were staying at the Wilderness Lodge the pool had an emergency closing because a baby had an accident in there, so they said anyone who wants to swim was allowed to swim at the Contemporary.

I actually doubt they'd allow the BLT pool to be used if the CR pool closed - it would just be too many people for such a small pool. Even if they open it up to the BLT pool *and* the monorail resort pools, people are going to likely stick to BLT and that won't work. I highly suspect they'll stick to the previous arrangements. AAMOF, there may already be stipulations in place about this.

Pools get refurbished, so the fact that it was recently renovated doesn't mean it won't have some scheduled closing for maintenance in the future.
