I want to take a day to tour a few of the Disney Resorts on one of our non-park days and one of them we chose was Fort Wilderness. I was reading that they have fishing at Bay Lake and my DH would just love to go fishing (trying to make it a surprise). I just have two questions:

1. Is this worth the money and time?
2. What time of day is this best to take this excursion?

***It will me be myself, DH and DD9 fishing.

We have not been on a fishing excursion but are also consider doing it. The earliest time you can go, I think 7 am would probablly be the best. Fish are usually more active in the early am.

We did the fishing trip from the Polynesian with our 3 ds. It was pretty expensive, close to $200 with tip, plus extra bait. You get coffee or soft drinks. The time slots are like 7-9,9-11 etc. We picked 9-11. A few times the boat was rocking from the wakes but it was fun to see the lake come to life etc. The guide said most people take the 7-9 becaus there is less traffic on the lake, the fish are more active, and if you go during a warm season etc, it can get pretty hot. It was something our ds still talk about and guess who caught the most bass - me, the mom of course!! The guide even took pictures for us and baited hooks, removed fish etc. Its catch and release only.

Would you pay to go again? Glad you went?

I did the fishing excursion twice. One time from WL, the other from CR. I agree it is a little pricey, but fun. Both times, our guide took us around Bay Lake, but the fishing was much better in the Seven Seas Lagoon. The views of the resorts were something you see on a postcard. We did the early excursion. It's been a couple of years, but I think it either left at 6:30am or 7:00am. We chose that time, because it was July and didn't want to fight the heat. If you have never done it, I highly recommend you try if you like fishing. I would definately go again.

went fishing twice while staying at the GF. Both times we had a female guide and she was just excellent. I will go again and I will request her. i dont remember her name.

My BIL has been twice...claims it's some of the best bass fishing he's ever done! :) He loved it!

To reply to the other posters questions yes we would do it again and yes we are glad we went. Sounds like we had the same fishing guide, did she say she originally grew up in ohio. She used to fish on the same lake my cousin used to take us to when we went there to visit. A very nice and friendly CM. We gave her a good tip.
