I was listening to todays podcast when I was unceremoniously interrupted by DH who wanted to discuss DS's exodus in a few weeks from Orlando back to NJ. I stopped the show and without missing a beat said.

"Banana boxes! Bob's right, we need to get banana boxes at Publix when we get down to FL. They're strong and we can take them apart for packing material. A little duct tape and we're all set"

Thanks to Bawb one less problem.
Now, if I can only figure out how to hire some able bodied strong arms to help squeeze a 1 bdrm apt into a rental truck in the "hotter than Louisiana hot sauce heat" in a day:scratchin Wonder what Bawb would say about that?

I prefer egg boxes (not cartons).

hmmm, I know what a carton looks like but not a box. Is that what they ship many egg cartons in? Sounds sturdy and lightweight. I'll be staying at SS until moving day maybe they'll have them there.

I have traveled with duct tape and scissors. I can't tell you how many times I was stopped for the scissors. :) Of course they are the very cheap ones like school kids use. I sure slept better knowing that TSA found my scissors. :)

You know I bet you though someone has packed their stuff in a banana or tomato box for the trip. :) :)

Yea, you're a real threat with those kiddie scissors:rotfl2:My little kiddie scissors were comfiscated from my checked luggage. I needed them to cut the zip strips on the suitcase when I reached the hotel. I'd already had a few frustrating trips without knives or scissors to cut the zip strips finally breaking down and buying nail clippers at the BWV.

Now I use TSA locks but duct tape I've carried since a trip in 1991. My suitcase was ripped open on a very long trip overseas. When I retrieved it I stood in shock and horror to see my underwear sticking out. Not a pretty site:eek:

I'm going to try and pack my stuff in bannana boxes(if I can find them) inside the suitcase. SS mousekeepers are gonna think I've gone bannanas when they see what I'm bringing:banana:or report me to Homeland security

Is your son in the college program?

No, I wish. He was going to Full Sail in Orlando for sound in movies. We rented this beautiful apartment overlooking Lake George while he was there. Now that he's finished it's been empty and I just can't see keeping it. He's going to be racing cars all summer (Indy) and into the fall so he'd never be there. We have DVC at the BWV so it's not like we need a place to stay when at WDW. We thought maybe we'd sublet but it's just not worth the trouble.

Wow, that sounds very nice.

Yup, hope everything works according to plan now with this move and the trip.
We rented a Penske truck out of Orlando. For anyone renting a moving van out of Orlando(or anywhere for that matter) Budget and U-haul may say the truck is available but when you go to get it you may have to drive quite a distance to actually pick up your truck. Of course you need a rental car to pick up your rental truck and it goes on and on. I'm becoming educated in rentals. So that's why the Bob's box info came as such a relief.

I had to go through that when we moved my son from school down to Orlando. I arranged for a U Haul in Charlotte. I flew up and they couldn't tell me until I was there if they would have the truck size I needed until I got there.

Thankfully they did. We drove through the thunderstorm from hell to get to Orlando.

When he moved back up to Charlotte for a job he borrowed a small truck and made two trips.

My son waited for me to arrive before he started to pack anything. Hopefully you are more organized.
