At random times during the last week, I have been getting a false low battery indicator. Turning the camera off and back on again will fix the problem temporarily...or I open the battery compartment and shut it again to make it work. I was shooting this morning for about 2 hours and it happened 4 times. Very inconvenient!!

I have had the D300 since December and it was never an issue before last week. I was wondering if any other D300 owners ever had a similar problem.

I haven't had that problem, but it seems there was a "DBS" (Dead Battery Syndrome) issue with the D300 some months ago that was addressed in a firmware update. You may want to google that and see what you find, or call Nikon Tech Support (800-645-6689 - programmed into my cellphone "just in case").

Yep, Ed is correct. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your D300 to resolve that issue. You should be able to navigate to it from HERE. :)

I agree with the above posters. I just got my D300, but when I looked into it, it seemed like it was a bit of a problem resolved with firmware. Some people were reporting that it happened when they were using their VR lenses. :confused3 No problems with mine yet (fingers crossed).
