Is there anything I can do to cover up chips in the porcelain of a bathtub? The master bath tub in my new house has a few chips in the porcelain. The inspector assured us that there's no leaking/rust, but it is somewhat unsightly, it looks ]dirty. Is there anything I can do to cover it up short of buying a whole new tub or one of those covers that they put over it? Thanks!

An appliance store should have touch up "paint" for porcelain. Take your time when applying it and it will look fine when you are done.

Depending on the size & depth of the chips, you could try to fix it yourself or hire someone to do it for you. You'll have to search your phone book for your area, but here's a start for both.

I've fixed tiny chips on a stove & on a toilet with the little jars of paint they sell for appliance porcelain touch up. Jars are size of nail polish & have tiny built in brush. Keep in mind however that the color never matches, nor it is level & you can always see it. Apply THIN. Add more if you need.

I've had way better luck having a fiberglass tub repaired by just calling the pros. They can do porcelain too. I thought it was worth it.

If its an old tub, you've probably got etching / staining going on. They could repair the chips & apply a nice new coat over the entire tub making the whole thing look like new.

I guess it just depends on how bad your tub is & in what direction you want to go.

Thanks! I think I will just try the point at this point. It's mostly a cosmetic issue and it's the master bathroom which is connected to my bedroom. I doubt many people will see it, it just looks dirty to me every time I see it.
