Bath time?

I was giving my daughter a bath this evening and started thinking about bath time at Disney. I was planning to bring her PJ's to the park with us each day and just leave them in the car and change her into them before we drive to our hotel. That way, if she passed out in the car, I could just carry her into the room and place her in bed.

However, I am never going to get to give her a bath doing that!!

How often do you bath your kids on vacation at Disney? We are going this week, so I don't anticipate her getting really sweaty or anything, but I don't want a stinky kiddo either. :rotfl:

I normally give her a bath every two or three days during the winter, so I'm not really diligent about every night or anything at home. I was just wondering what everyone else does?

I know there are some ppl. that think everyone, no matter the age should have a bath/shower every day. I'm not one of them. It looks like your dd is 2, I also have a 2 year old dd, and if were to go to WDW in the winter, honestly, I'd give her a bath the night before we left and probably only 2-3 times while there for a weeks time. We usually go in the Sept., and even then I only give her a bath every other day.- There's just not a lot of time (we go pretty commando style.) I've never thought she smelled or anything, and no one else has ever said anything, so I think she's fine.

Will you be swimming? When mine were little I didn't worry about it much especially since they would be swimming. If you have time after a trip to the pool throw some shampoo on them if they rinse off before dressing, otherwise I wouldn't stress much.

I've never given my kids baths/showers every day. Even now with the oldest being 6 and in school everyday.

They all get a bath about every other day. Sometimes during school breaks they wont get a bath until every 3rd day.

If they were sweaty and sticky I would give a bath more often.

We are planning on going to Disney the end of November and they will probably get a bath every other or every 3rd day unless again they get excessively hot and sweaty(which I dont see happening).

Giving baths to 3 kids every day would take up too much quality park time.

Baths are part of our kid's nighttime routine. We HAVE to give them one, every night (although, I would insist on that even if they didn't...I am a clean person and want my kids to be clean too...)

Anyway, a few times, our kids have fallen asleep in the car at night, and I've TRIED to put them in bed and they wake up and FREAK OUT because they need to take their bath. :lmao:

I would just maybe plan on bathing your child in the mornings. Keep with your plan to take her pj's to the park at night and change her into them as needed. No reason why the bath has to be at night, right?

And, regardless of how "sweaty" or not your child might get, just remember all the germs and general yuckiness of WDW (if she's potty trained, sitting on the toilets, etc.). I'd not be satisfied just washing hands...I'd NEED my kids to bathe, as they touch everything, then touch their face, hair, etc. Even when kids don't sweat, they get dirty.

when we go with my 2 (almost 3!) yo this spring, i'm just going to wing it. if she's not asleep once we get back to the hotel, we'll do a quick one then. if she is, we'll do a quick bath in the morning.

we're every other day bathers, here, so squeezing in a bath every 2-3 days shouldn't be an issue, even at disney. normal kid dirt is...well, normal, she'll be fine if she doesn't bathe every day. just have her wash her hands and face as normal and she'll be fine!

At home, my 2 (almost 3) year old almost always takes a night time bath, but he didn't get a single one on our trip in January. We found that it was just easier to throw him in the shower in the morning because he would almost always fall asleep on the bus ride home.

For me, much of it depends on whether I've put sunscreen on DD during the day or not.

On our first trip, it was hot and sunny. We sprayed sunscreen on many times each day. We wound up coming back to the hotel every afternoon by about 3pm for a rest and swim. I just gave DD a thorough shower after her swim. (I don't like leaving chlorine in her hair either).

This last trip it was CCCCCOLD. So we didn't use sunscreen. As a result, DD had a morning shower with me on our "rest" days.

My kids are 11 & 6 now, but on their first trips to WDW, the older one was 3, the younger one went at 21 months. I gave them a shower every day on every trip. They do it themselves now, but still, every day. If we are going to be out very late, the younger one will take a shower while we are back at the resort for a break. We never go when it is hot.

Will you be taking a mid-day break? We always go back to the resort for a mid-day swim and nap. I give the kids their baths/showers after their nap/swim. Then we head out to dinner or the parks. If the kids fall asleep on the ride home, no worries since they've already had their baths.

I completely agree with you on this, I feel exactly the same way.

At home, on the occasional days when we don't leave the house or just go to visit grandparents or something like that, then we skip bath time. But when they're at school all day, or spending time at a place like WDW where there are tons of people coming & going, I prefer that they have a bath/shower when they get back so that they are nice & clean when they go to bed.

I have even told DH that I would like it if he showers AFTER work. He is a physician so he sees many patients daily and who knows what germs he may come across. In fact, he is a surgeon, so the thought of him coming home after a day of literally dealing with people's "insides" and then not showering kind of grosses me out

We go every other day unless the kids have been somewhere that caused them to sweat, have sunscreen on, bug spray, etc.

We always toss them in the bath after a trip to the public park or places like Chuck E. Cheese.

Since WDW can be a combo between the park and Chuck E. Cheese, we'll toss the kids in the shower with one of us for a quick clean up, not a full bath.

I agree completely!

100% AGREE!!!!!!! I feel dirty after all day in the parks regardless of weather and I feel she does to. It's not hard to take a quick shower or bath before going to bed and then you're also ready to go quick in the morning. I can't imagine putting her into a clean bed after a day in the park. Yes, we may skip a day at home but it's always when we have not gone anywhere, just hanging at home. I also know she sleeps better after a nice relaxing hot bath or shower. And yes, I also being tub cleaner with us to clean the tub out before she uses it. Call me a germ-o-phobe!

We usually just bring the kids in the shower with us in the morning on vacations, have done so since birth. However, at home we do showers and baths half and half, so they are used to it. Our kids are ds 2.5 and dd 4.5. Works well for us.

It depends. Our girls are young, so we only plan a few late evenings in the park. Early nights they have their bath before bed. On the late evenings we bathe them in the afternoon, before heading out to dinner. If they fall alseep in their stroller, we just plunk them in bed.

Gave DS (he was 15 months) one every night. It's part of our bed time routine and he needed one because of the ice cream, germs, etc. We went in Dec and people were sneezing, coughing, and I just felt better knowing we were washing some of it off. Besides, would you want to sleep in a bed with dirty sheets every night after you had been exposed to hundreds of people? IMO.

Well, since my dd8 is older, she gets a bath on Sunday (to start the week), bath on Tuesday (after PE AND dance class), bath on Wednesday (PE class), and bath on Friday (because she doesn't have one on Thursday).

At WDW she will swim every night, so at the very least she gets a "rinse off" which often includes hair washing (to get chlorine out) and a quick body wash.:thumbsup2 When she was younger (4 or 5) and fell asleep on the bus, I would strip her down and use a warm washcloth to wipe her down (hands, feet, neck, pits)...she slept through it every time. The next morning, she would have a quickie shower.

My kids are the same way!!!
