Ok give me some more ideas to throw out.. I am NOW (note extreme sarcasam) here.. in charge of the basket raffles for elementary schools..
So of the teachers want to go it alone/ some want to pair.. no issues..and each grade level does these close to an event in their grade level..but I wanted to toss out some ideas...and get some more from all of you... Here is what I have come up with so far...
Note: I'm going to try to get my teachers to do the scrapbookers delight and add either a paper bag /tag book to the basket..may do that regardless of which class takes this if any of them do... Since I don't hear much about people scrapbooking here.. I may have this basket hands down to myself! :rotfl2:

Chocolate. I don't know what all to put in it, but lots and lots of chocolate.

Italian Dinner: Pasta Serving Bowl, spaghetti server, sauce, spaghetti, olive oil, etc.

The first aid/hurricane one sparked another one.

I don't need a man: Tool Kit, measuring tape, flashlight, etc.

We did a baby themed one once, and it was a big hit. Maybe in a paint can?

A cooking one is nice, pasta, sauce, a bowl, etc.

How about getting a local liquor store to donate a wine bottle or too. Do a nice basket with wine, crackers, cheese, a cheese knife and small cutting board. With the holidays coming up Hillshire Farms(???) should have some nice sets coming out.

Check Walmart and Target too, they have great gift baskets that you can revamp for cheap.

Family fun night with free passe to a bowling alley and a coupon from a local pizza joint.

Tools, a box with basic tools and a gift card to Home Depot or Lowes.

Local college team- see if they would be willing to donate tickets

science basket - with kits and such form discovery store

Slumber party - for the girls. Girlie stuff, don't ask me what's in it though! LOL

One of our teachers offered to bake pies once, that went over well. The basket had a 2-tiered pie plate and some apples and things, and a gift certificate for 2 homemade pies.

That's all I can think of right now.

Oh a gardeners basket - bird feeder, food, gloves, wind chimes - Mom won that one.

Disney!!!

with pink tools!!!! Not sure where my mom got them from but she has a pink hammer. My dad won't go near it!!! LOL
I brought my own hammer into this marriage.. DH will not use it.. Daddy gave it to me when I moved out into my own home.... I keep it in the kitchen.. if it's out on the counter when DH comes home.. he asked what he did wrong! I guess Dad told DH that he gave it to me so that if I ever need a weapon I had a reliable tool! :rotfl:

I'm the only one who knows how to use tools in our marriage. My Dad renovated our 80 year old house, and I was there for it. The only thing he contracted out was for the electrical service box. All the other wiring, plumbing, everything he did. So I know how to destroy walls, strip wallpaper, strip woodwork, mix concrete, in addition to the normal painting and wallpapering. And I have seen how to do all sorts of other stuff, that I wouldn't attempt on my own. About 2 months after we got married, the towel bar fell off the wall, and DH was like, should I call maintence? And I was like? "For a towel bar?"

I have a pink tool kit too:lmao: DH tools are too heavy for me, I have small hands.

I did a basket auction at DD school last year in addition to the others listed already we had........

Arts & crafts for the kids

AVON

Summer/pool stuff

A huge basket of all kinds of candy

I did a Disney basket (backpack, 2 tickets from DLR, autograph album, pen, colorbook/activity, stickers, disney snacks) it went for $263.00!! it was the top seller.

Restaurant gift cards

Starbucks

Car Wash's

Good luck!

Lisa

Great ideas, :thumbsup2 I have nothing to add.:confused3

Don't know if you're still looking for suggestions or not, what kind of $ limitations you have, or where you live exactly, but here are some of mine.

dinner out for a week-gift certificates to local restaurants for 7 dinners

spa/manicure/pedicure-gift certificates for spa services or items for do it yourself (a basket I bought at an auction included foot salt soak, couple of sponges, energizing foot cream, foot scrub, foaming body wash, whipped body cream, body scrub, and incredible spreadable scrub all in a lovely basket-one I bought that is kind of childish includes foot soak solutions, bath fizzers, toe rings, bath crystals, and a scrub/smoother brush packaged in a paint can type container)

weekend trip-bed and breakfast and stuff to go along with wherever the location is

sightseeing/museum tickets for something close by and other items to make a day of it (maybe something that tourists always do, but locals don't because they think they will do it someday...) or a sightseeing plane ride (lots of people like to fly over their home)

Picnic-picnic basket and equipment, maybe a gift certificate to a local deli to fill it for a quick trip

yard work-work for a day of weeding, mowing, planting, etc.

Christmas decorating-where we live a local men's club auctioned their time and the use of a "cherry picker" (I think) to do several hours of outside decorating at Christmas and then coming back to take everything down. It went for a small fortune!

storage-various storage solutions

date night-romantic evening for 2

splurge and lose-we had a large cheesecake from a local cheesecake baker and a gift certificate for an exercise facility

“Go local NBA Team”: items, keychain, hat, shirt, glass, towel, flag, Pacer Schedule

“Go local NFL Team”: Colt items, Colt Schedule, towel, hat, shirt, flag, cup

To add to these baskets send a letter to them and ask for some autographed pictures of there more famous players (most teams will send these free especially to a school fundraiser and they might even add in tickets. You can frame them with an inexpensive frame and it will bring up the value of the basket greatly.

We did a golf basket last year with balls, glove, mini golf coupons, a certificate for a free game (donated by a local golf course), rulebook, club covers.

Check with any of your local sales people for at home sales (Mary Kay, Taste of Home, Princess House, whatever they have parties for) many of them will donate a small basket if you include there name on the information because of the advertising they get.

One of our classes did a webkinz basket and it was very popular. These are really great ideas: I will have to bookmark this so I can remember when we are putting together our baskets!

You definitely need more outdoors types of baskets.

Golf, hunting/camping/fishing (i.e. think Gander Mountain GC, or Cabela's GC).

One year, our 5th graders did a whole unit on the Iditorod (probably misspelled, but the big dog sled race) and they had a whole really big basket with related stuff, i.e. snow stuff, a related movie.

Don't forget a dog-related basket.

I don't care for cats, but many people would like a cat basket.

Gotta have a chocolate one. (one teacher in our school was a chocoholic - so that was the basket from her class) It was VERY popular.

A science basket is fun (we had a science-geek teacher for 3rd grade) - also a popular one.

And - in terms of baskets related to teacher interests - do a Teddy-Bear theme. This one always included a build-a-bear GC. Also - very popular. One of our elem teachers did a whole unit on teddy bears in 2nd grade. This was the basket assigned to their room.

Does your school have any "left over" logo'd stuff, i.e. t-shirts, PTA cookbooks etc? Our elementary school also did a basket with these items. It was great having a variety of t-shirts, sweatshirts in different sizes - including adult sizes. This basket didn't cost anything - since it was essentially leftovers.

Gardening is a good one too, also bird-feeders/bird food.

And - the one I would put all my tickets in- would be one that had GC for gas.
