Basic question (and I’d prefer not to call MS)

We have a reservation for 12/2022 at Aulani using 2021 banked BLT points as well as current 2022 UY BLT points. I just noted though that we have 26 banked points from VGF that we have to use or lose this UY. How can I reallocate my points? I wanted to use all 2021 banked BLT (200), all 2021 banked VGF (26), and then use the 2022 UY points. I know there’s a way to modify the reservation to assign those 26 VGF points to the reservation but I can’t figure out how to do it unfortunately. I could call MS but would rather do it myself. Help?!?

Thanks!!

That sounds like a pretty specific need and change. I'm not thinking of a way you can do it yourself - you'll likely need MS on the phone (or in chat) to see what they can do for you behind the scenes. Perhaps start with Chat, when it's available. I've managed a lot through that process.

I did find a way to modify and reassign the contracts but it looked like it would preferentially use ALL the VGF points (banked 2021 and left over 2022 points that I wanted to bank forward) rather than just being able to assign the VGF 2021 UY points.

I think you are right - I am going to have to call and boy am I hoping the 60+ minute wait times have improved since I last called in.

Ok here’s the answer (in case anyone else needs to do this and finds this thread via search):

1) my hold time was only 2 minutes. Total phone call was 10 minutes
2) the system pulls banked points first and regular use year second. So, the MS services assigned BLT#1 as 1st contract (will pull 200 banked points first), BLT#2 as 2nd contract (no banked points), and the VGF as 3rd contract (will pull 26 banked points). The system goes sequentially so 200+0+26 = 226 banked points. Then it goes again sequentially for regular UY points so 200+8+0.

Did they tell you if this was considered your transfer for the year?

All our contracts are the same UY/same membership # and all are labeled XXXXXX.1, XXXXXX.2, etc. So this really is not a transfer: it was simply reassigning banked points.

edited: someone please correct me if I’m wrong about this not being a transfer.

You could have done it online as a modification. When you get to the page for choosing contracts, list the BLT contract first and the VGF contract second. The system is designed to use any banked points from both contracts first. However, when you first see the change made online, it often looks like it just went in the order of the contract for all points and did not take any banked points first. You just need to keep going in the modification program until you get to the end, at which time, it will show actual point use and you will see that banked points from both contracts were used first.

Yes, that’s the step where I backed out of it and just decided to call in: because it looked like the VGF was all going to get pulled. Once I called in and the MS service agent explained it to me (while she was waiting for her computer to load up) it all made sense. The good news is that I do know how to do this now online!!

You are correct - borrowing points involves moving points from one UY to another within the same membership (even though different home resorts and different contracts may be involved) and is not a transfer. A transfer involves moving points from one membership to another membership.
