Basic car rental question

I went ahead and booked a rental car in my name for our upcoming trip to WDW.I should have realized that it will be my DSiL who will be doing the driving and not me. Can I call and just change the info over the phone to save the existing ressie, rather than start from the beginning getting a new ressie in my SiL's name. Or, can we just chane the info, from me to him, at the rental counter in Orlando airport when we get there? I would like to keep the existing ressie, but just need to change the name ( to son in laws) and address, cc info ,etc. Thanks in advance, Karen

You can probably change the driver when you check in at the airport for the car. But rental car reservations are really easy to cancel and rebook. If the rate stays the same, why don't you just book a new one and cancel the first one.

Thanks MEK, I should look and see if I can get the same rate. I was just assuming that I wouldn't be able to. If that were the case, not able to get the same/or better rate, then you do think it wouldn't be a problem to change the driver info at the rental car check in?? Thanks again, Karen

I would try to make the change before you even leave on your vacation.
Trying to do this at the airport may cause you to lose your rate and incur a much higher one, it would be considered a modification of the reservation.
Call the company and ask them to change it. Or, rebook if the rate is the same and cancel the old one.

I would try re-booking at old rate, then canceling original if you can.

Many folks book new ressies when prices come down, then go back and cancel any previous ones.

I've done it a few times myself.
