Baseball-Cubs Bartman Ball Beautifully Blown-up

Whoo Hoo!

I just watched the infamous Bartman Baseball get blown up on TV. This was the ball that was caught by the fan at Wrigley Field, turning the tide from the Chicago Cubs going to the World Series (5 more outs!) to the Marlins winning it all.

There is good karma in Chicago tonight. Goat burgers for everyone!

LOL! I tuned in for that! It was bright!

I LOVED some of the suggestions for the ball's destruction: burn it and launch ashes into space was great. My FAVORITE idea was the firing squad. I could just imagine the ball with a blindfold and cigarette with a million guns pointed at it like the Blues Brothers. How fitting would that have been?

I think they should feed the pieces to a goat.

Hmmm... are they planning on blowing up whoever gave up those eight Marlins runs that came after the Bartman incident

The Cubs had 9 innings to win that game, they choked and then try to blame it on a hapless fan. Anyone would have gone for catching that ball. It was a reflex reaction.

I don't think anyone truly blames Bartman anymore, they just chalk it up to typical Cubbie luck. That's why they blew up the ball - just trying to change a little luck for our boys in blue.

Exactly, Karen. The Cubs need all the good karma they can get .

I do not blame Bartman for catching the ball. Any fan would have tried to catch a foul ball if they didn't see Alou coming for it. Gonzalez (the SS) shoulders more blame, IMO. On the very next play he blew a double-play which would have gotten us out of the inning.

It was a terrible, terrible game. I was there. If you're not a baseball fan or not a Cubs fan you cannot begin to understand the way it felt to see getting into the World Series, our first since 1945, just ... slip away. It was truly heartbreaking and a game I will never forget. Unfortunately.
