Base Tickets vs. park to Park

What are the pros and cons of buying base tickets? If I put them in my package, are there set days for attending each park, or do we get to use the base tickets at either park on any day. We are only going for 3 days, so I don't think we'll need to "park hop."

You can use at either park on any day but only one park per day. I prefer to park hop.
