Has anyone that has been to WDW several times every thought of doing this?

We have been to WDW several times and planning our trip once again. Here is my thought! I am thinking of buying 10 base ticket vs. 7 day hopper. I have figured that if we want to come out of the park we just have to get our hand stamped and then go back later and should the gang decide they want to go to another park it would just take another day off the base ticket. For us the 10 day base ticket is around $890 and the 7 day park hopper would be $1036 through the military. So buying the base ticket would be so much cheaper.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

One question, what are you going to do with any left over tickets. Are you getting no expiration on the base tickets?

It's a really great idea, one I asked Disney about, in fact. Unfortunately, the only was you can do more than one park in a single day is to have a park hopper... You can't use 2 days worth of tickets in one day.

Apparently that has been tried before and doesn't work.

The base ticket registers the DATE of your admission, not the number of admissions. You can do one park per day without parkhoppers. At the second park, you'll have a problem.

I don't think you can go to 2 different parks on the same
day without a hopper. With the new Finger scan it will
show up that you were at a different park and don't have
a hopper.

Thanks for all the responses. For some reason I thought it would just take a day off the ticket if we decided to go to another park. That is why we come here to get the answers we need!

Yep, Disney always squashes all our good ideas re saving $$$ on tickets!

Just for info, here's what Cheshire Figment says about this on his ticket answer "sticky" over on the Theme Parks board: (Unless you have separate tickets for each day, which is not cost effective)

You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

There is no combination of override codes that a Greeter can put into the turnstiles which will allow a Base ticket to be used in more than one park per day.

Park Hopping is a $45.00 option which can be added to any base ticket, whether adult or child, whether one day or ten days.

The PH option allows you to go to two, three, or even all four of the major parks per day. Just as a base ticket allows entry to one major park per day, as well as unlimited exits and re-entries to the same park without extra charge, there is no charge to your entitlements when you enter or reenter the second or subsequent major theme park on the same day.
