Barney, Teletubbies, Spongebob, etc.

I had an epiphany today. I believe Barney, the Teletubbies and Spongebob were created by our devious parents when they would tell us "Just wait until YOU have kids" when we were supposed problem children with them. I also think these shows were created to punish us for procreating without asking our parent's permission first. If that's the case, I'd like to really apologize to my parents and tell them I feel thoroughly and deeply punished. I really think Spongebob has been the worst punishment thus far though.

Spongebob I can take in small doses - DD, who is almost 19, loves him! I actually liked Barney - but hey, that was over 11 years ago when my son watched him.

Teletubbies is just sooooo bizarre for my tastes.

My daughter (12) LOVED Barney way back, and BELIEVE ME, he was MUCH WORSE than he is now! No comparison! The kids on that show were the MOST ANNOYING kids (not even annoyingly cute--just annoying). My son (7), thankfully, never liked it--he was a Teletubbies and Blue's Clues fan--actually had an upholstered thinking chair, dressed in the Steve green-striped shirt, tan pants, and carried a notebook. My youngest daughter (1) isn't too interested in Barney (which is why I know it's not as bad as it used to be), likes Teletubbies, but LOVES that new show, BOOHBAH.

She is mesmerized when this show is on--cannot take her eyes off the screen. My son, by the way, is now a huge SpongeBob and Yugioh fan.
