Barney Show

One more tip. Hang out in Barney's playground while a show is going in the theater. They will make an announcement that the show is about to let out. This would be a good time to get in line to meet Barney to avoid a possible line.

Yes, we endured, ahem, I mean enjoyed, the BArney show last year three times with our DS3 and DS5, and also went the year before that. I agree that it is a very sweet show. Even the preshow, which you stand up for, is neat (although DH always reminds me of the time in 2004 when he was holding DS3 during the preshow, who had a little "accident" all over DHs shirt). And plan to spend a bit of time in "Barney's Backyard" afterwards, not just for the photo-op, but because it is a cool (literally -- it is indoors!) children's playground that my sons had to be dragged out of.

PM me if you'd like any other suggestions for touring Universal parks with little boys. We are heading there in May for our third year in a row with our sons, now ages 6 and 4!

Oh boy, thanks for the pics! My 2 year old came in and saw them, he's off another tangent of shouting "Barney, BJ, Bop" all over the house :) It looks like a nice small setting for the show. I think my only concern will be holding him back so he doesn't try to rush the stage :)

We have done it several times...Awesome for the Barney fans....By the way there is security for the kids who attack Barney ;)

My kids and I have been to the Barney show a few times too. It is so cute to see the little kids screaming and going crazy like they have seen the biggest star of all time. My kids liked the Barney playground better than actual show though.
My oldest was the one that was crazy about Barney in my house. When he was two, he watched Barney videos, played with Barney toys, wore Barney clothes and slept on Barney sheets while cuddling a Barney stuffed animal. I am so glad that he has moved on since then.

OK, my DD4 is a Baney nut and we will absolutely HAVE to see this show, but my other two kids...ages 11 and 8... will they be able to edure the show for the love of their sister, or will they hold a grudge against me forever if I make us all go see it together? We feel like we are going to have to split up our family enough and are trying to find as much to do together as possible... any suggestions? Appreciate it!

I think they might secretely enjoy it-I know I do..... :cool1:

It isn't a long show either (around 20 mins?) so I'd have thought that they'd manage to forgive you ;)
Especially if you were to slip in a promise for something exciting after the show

Thanks, Alisonbestford,
You convinced me... we'll stick together as a family and my DS11, who was a huge Barney fan in his younger days may just feel the same as you! ;)
(and I like the idea of a little incentive!) :)

Did you get your picture taken with Barney? It's probably more fun to go when you know all of the words to the songs and the hand movements?

:cool1:

Have a great time.

DD (7) will only confess to a few of her close friends that she loves Barney and hides her videos from the others.....
I just tell her to tell them they're all mine.......... :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2

if all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops,

standing outside with my mouth open wide,
ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah........ :rolleyes1

Back from Universal and happy to report that the Barney show was one of the highlights of our trip. Thanks for the great tip on sitting to the left side and hitting those exit doors fast. We were second in line to meet Barney. My little guy didn't want anything to do with most of the characters that we met on our trip, but he went right up and hugged Barney and kissed him :) It was so cute!! Our 3 year old loved the show too and my two older sons "weathered" it for their brothers (although I did see them doing the hand motions to the song when they thought no one was watching) :) My only complaints: the show seemed short and the last show is really early (4:30 when we were there).

i remember going out the exit doors & straight to barney for our picture w/ him - we went through a store then exited in a hurry in order to get back to the rest of our family.

did i miss a playground in that store?

does anyone know if there is a Barney playground near the show area? i don't want to miss it this time. thanks.

Yes, it's all indoor and I think you have to walk through it before exiting through the store. If you want a picture with Barney, get in line for that first as they cut it off. I've seen a lot of parents scramble to drag their kids off the play stuff when they announce it. The line forms on the other side of the train and goes along the train towards the front of the building.

Have fun!

My ds was 2 when we went in July, and loves Barney. Unfortunatly he totally freaked and would not crack a smile the whole time. He could'nt believe it, I think he was in shock. It was just fun, to make my 30 yr old single brother suffer through the show :rolleyes1

Over a year later, and my 2 year old still talks about when he hugged and kissed Barney  I'm tempted to do a day at Universal this fall when we go to WDW, just for the Barney show. :rolleyes1
