I'm very tempted to order the bare essentials starter kit from sephora. It comes with two bases, a concealer, three brushes, a dvd to show you how to apply it, and some other stuff for 60 dollars.

it this stuff really worth it? I mean... I want my makeup on the day I get married to look light and fresh and gorgeous.. and to also stay on in the september florida heat.... it's just soooo expensive! does it really do all it says it will? I need honest opinions here! thanks!

I just started using BE and really like it. I ordered a sample from Ebay...also, there is a brand Everyday Minerals and they were offering free samples, all you have to pay is shipping.

I have heard alot of good things about BE and like I said, I like the products too...I am not sure how it will last in the heat..the more experienced users will be able to help...:)

This was a thread that was asking to if there was a bare minerals make up artist in orlanda. I'd do a search because there was alot of BM users who raved about it there.

hope that helps!

Sephora has a very generous return policy. I say order it (and add something else to make the total $75 so you get free shipping - you can return the item for free if you keep the Bare Minerals) and try it. If you don't like it, just use the free return label in the box.

I've heard a range of reviews on Bare Minerals, from "it made me break out" to "it makes my face absolutely flawless." Most people say it just looks powdery and highlights fine lines (which is what happened to me, and I am not at the fine-line stage of life yet!).

But it may be perfect for your skin type, so I say give it a try! :thumbsup2

I love BE. I started using on a reccomendation from here on the Dis. The kit is $60 at Sephora and worth it. I have worn it in WDW during warmer months and found it stayed on great. Also used it on long plane rides and noticed it looked as good when I got off the plane as when I got on.

Good luck!

I have used Bare Minerals for 4 years and I adore it. I was formerly a professional make up artist. I also have acne rosacea and very red patchy skin. I can't sing it's praises enough. It takes a little getting used to the application but once you find what works best for you it's wonderful!
The best thing is how versatile it is. You can go light or you can go heavy.
I think in the long run it's a little less expensive that some dept store make up. A jar lasts me at least 60 days and I do some serious coverage.
I could go on and on but you get the point!
I've hooked so many people on the stuff I should get commission!

Keep in mind BE has suncreen. Sunscreen and photography are NOT a good mix, and can result in a "moon face" (face looks lighter than it is)

A good recommendation of a foundation for wedding days is Mac Studio Fix.

I love Bare minerals! have used it for years and it looks really antural, and not like your make up is "caked on" (if you use it properly) an dthe stuff lasts a really really long time! so worth it!

BE is wonderful! The mineral veil is like magic and it makes your skin look flawless. Just make sure if you plan on getting it that you give yourself some time to play around with it. Maybe give yourself a week or two to get used to applying it.

I bought the starter kit from Sephora about a year ago because so many people rave about it. I have VERY sensitive skin and my entire face exploded into these horrible red bumps after I started using it. It took over 3 months after I stopped for them to fully go away.

I just started using it as well. I don't think it's going to be my wedding day makeup (as I haev someone coming to do that for me), but it's been great so far. I don't have sensitive skin, but my eyes are sensitive and the eye makeup is so light it doesn't bother me at all!

I've been wanting to try this stuff. I am such a sucker for those informercials! I was on sephora's web site the other day looking at it again but I don't know!

i asked my makeup artist (lisa pena) if we could use bare essentuals because it lets my skin breathe and doesn't look heavy but she said she has special makeup for photographs. so i let her use HER makeup and my skin looks AWESOME in the photos!!!!!!! but after the wedding, i went back to my bare essentuals foundation. it's the best

Been using it since October and I love it. My skin is so much better than it was before - YAY!
Would highly recommend it!

I'm a BE user for almost a year and I love it. It is initially expensive, but I started in July and haven't had to replace anything yet..so it lasts a good amount of time.

I think the starter kit is a tad bit cheaper on QVC if you try there. Well worth the investment. It's a great product!:yay:

I am copying and pasting my reply on a similar thread below...

I wanted so bad to try Bare Minerals as I would see it on QVC all the time. (I'm a QVC-aholic!) So for Christmas 2005 I asked for the "starter kit". They sell them online at Sephora.com. It came with all the necessary essentials for start up use for about $60 or so. I have been addicted to them ever since!! I would definitely give it a try. The way I figured it was I used to use Clinique and one bottle of foundation was about $20, so for $60 I got to try new products and it came with brushes and all that jazz.

At first I was also skeptical that it wouldn't have as much coverage, and I do have to admit, it doesn't cover completely as much as liquid, but it's still very very good. One of my problems in the beginning was finding something to use as a concealer. You can't use a creme concealer at all with the bareminerals foundation because the powder won't sit on your face correctly. So I did some research and found that Bare Minerals had some products that I could use for concealer even though that's not what they called it. I use "Well Rested" and sometimes "summer bisque" to cover my redness and dark circles under my eyes (with the special brush, you absolutely need to use their brushes!!) and then I use the foundation over the top. I also now use their other products like shimmery eye shadows and blush.

They are great products, I would say if you have some problem blemishes, to buy the starter kit and also do a little research on their website or sephora.com and buy one of the "bisques" to use as a concealer. "Well Rested" and summer bisque both have a yellowish undertone that helps cover up red.

All in all, I haven't touched another makeup since starting Bare Essentials. They do take some time to get used to, especially since it's not "instantaneous" makeup like a liquid is. YOu have to wait a minute or two before you see the complete coverage. Don't worry, you get the hang of it in a few weeks! I couldn't imagine using anything else now.

I LOVE BARE MINERALS, FOR YEARS I TRIED TO FIGHT THAT "RIGHT" FOUNDATION WHICH DIDN'T LEAVE LINES OR WASN'T TO DARK. I TRIED BARE MINERALS ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS AGO AND PRAY THAT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET. DUE TO CYSTIC ACNE LEAVING SOME PURPLE SCARRING THIS PRODUCT COVERS IT ALL AND YOU NEVER FEEL LIKE YOU EVEN HAVE MAKEUP ON! I'M SO PRO BARE MINERALS AS YOU CAN TELL. :yay:

Buy it. So worth the price. You will never put anything else on your face again.

It's also great at WDW. Holds up much better than anything else in the heat & humidity.

thanks everyone.. I just ordered the sample kit from everyday minerals just to try mineral makeup since I have never used it ever before....

I'll see how that goes and if I like it, I may stick with that brand.. unless someone could tell me why BE is better.

I'm still wondering if the mineral makeup is good for wedding photos though.. I think I may call randy chapman and ask him if he has any tips on makeup to make sure the photos look great.

thanks!

Someone already mentioned this but beware of moonface with BM. Any product with spf willll give you an odd glow in photos, especially ones in natural light. I love my BM. I would still highly recommend it for WDW. I sweat a lot and I swear you can sweat right through the stuff and it stays put. You just dab at your face with a paper towel and it stays there.
I recommend Benefit Playsticks foundation..It has awesome coverage and photographs beautifully. I also recommend their Bad Gal Blue mascara. It just came out and I swear it makes the whites of your eyes so bright. It feels kind of weird wearing blue mascara but I wear it everyday and no one notices.
Another thing about the BM is that you HAVE to buy the BM brushes. I have all of them and love them. I have a friend who tried to cheap out and just buy the makeup and use regular brushes. Her makeup looked awful! You must have the brushes! Buying the kit was a good move. Remember you can mix the foundations to find your perfect color!
