First let me say I am a long time Streisand fan, even went to her very last concert at Madison Square Garden. Her voice is such a gift. However I have never been a fan of her politics.

That being said, I watched the Oprah show yesterday. Boy did she need a reality check. I thought Oprah was going to loose it when she talked about the flower outside her window matching the room (shades of burgundy, pink and white ONLY!!), then she commented about it like setting up the shot--what does she think her whole life is a movie. Then when she went on about these orange mums, and how through her desire they turned to pink and white because she hates orange. Then she called Deepak Cho..., and he explained that it was her desire the changed the color--I thought Oprah was going to laugh in her face.

Her conversation seemed very disjointed, her turtleneck sweater looked as if she was trying to hide something (facelift, and besides its not the time of year for the type of shirt she had on). She was just very weird.

Anyone else see it. Anyone buy the movie songs CD yet. I did, not impressed at all. I like a few cuts, Smile, Moon River, and I love the song Your Gonna Hear From Me, because I love the film Inside Daisy Clover. I would have loved to hear Barbra sing that song about 10 years ago. Vocally she is still great, but the CD shows that her voice is aging a bit.

Streisand has paled in comparison to many other singers in the last 15+ years, even compared to her older stuff.

I haven't seen this (maybe will catch a bit when it's on at 7 tonight), but you and I seem to have the same thoughts on Babs...She's got a wonderful voice and I've really admired some her movie choices (though I thought she was WAY too young for Hello Dolly). Her political views have rarely matched my own, however, she's got a right to her views.

The one thing that bothered me was that while she's always quite vocal about most things, she didn't say a word after 9/11. The woman is from New York (Ok, Brooklyn) originally, you'd think she would have participated in one of the many fundraisers and tributes they had.

And my DH said the same thing you did about the turtleneck...who knows what lurks under there!

The other odd thing about her interview were the comments she made about marriage. When she first wed James Brolin she seemed so sappy about the whole thing, how wonderful he was, marriage was, being together---but now she was like it is alot of work, and comments like they dont always get along--perhaps the shine is off the new penny---I say divorce in 5 years.

And how about having the microphone spray painted to match her sweater

I listened to the flower story and turned it off -- what an egomaniac whacko! That is what happens after a lifetime of people yessing you to death, you actually start to believe you are bigger than life. I agreed about the turtleneck, there was also a picture of her holding her finger under her chin, must be something there she no longer likes, but that dress just drew attention to it.

Hmm, I've been trying to get my sofa to change color for years. I wonder what her secret is.

I didn't see it but I can imagine that some of her gardening staff was chuckling to themselves as they remembered the secret re-planting that "miraculously" turned the mums from orange to pink & white.

I think that I would get very strange, too, if my every wish was somebody's command and I thought my wishes could change the laws of nature.

I love her voice but her life is a bit too much for me.

I love to hear her too, on occasion, but can you imagine what kind of control freak she would be. WOW!

Let me know if you figure it out. Maybe I could change the carpet too.

I cannot STAND the woman, I'm sorry. She always seemed to be so full of herself. Maybe it's because I'm young and didn't grow up with her when she was in her prime...but the woman just IRKS me. She always seems so off, and this just adds to it.

I did not see it.. wish I had.. lately Babs has been getting to me..........I saw her new CD, one I might have bought in the past as I do think she is one of our greats.. but I walked right by it.... I made that choice... she makes hers.

No. I'm not young and I did grow up with her in her prime and my reaction to her is the same as yours.

Add me to the list who think Babs is getting weirder and weirder. She did some great stuff back in the day. Maybe not everyone's favorite, but I have always LOVED "What's Up Doc?" But these days...I don't know, it is like she is a complete fruitcake. I also wondered about her choice of attire for the Oprah interview. I was thinking maybe she just thought that a sweater 10 times too big for her, would make her legs look really long and skinny? Plus the turtleneck part was huge, I mean it almost obscured her face. It was definitely weird. I will agree with whoever made the comment that it looked like Oprah had to hold back from laughing or saying something. Did you catch what she was saying about not knowing how to cook? She was saying she could make a mousse but not boil water or cook an egg. She is definitely weird!

Does anyone remember how she advised her fans on her web site to conserve electricity when California had their energy crisis? But that didn't include her. I think she, like so many stars are out of touch with reality. That's fine, but don't be surprised when the average person is not interested in your opinions!:D

I, too, cannot STAND this woman! Never have. I never even cared much for her singing. Never saw any movie that she's been in, etc. etc.

And, after hearing about her "flower" comments, I'm surprised she didn't segue right into "You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore"...;)

LOL, this thread has made me laugh...she is definitely one who should stay away from interviews. Every interview I have ever seen of her reminds me of what an overbearing egotist she is...

Imagine being related to (or working for) her.....aarrgghhh...at least we can turn off the tv...

I don't think Barbra got this weird overnight. I seem to recall years ago one of her leading men (Kris Kristopherson, I believe) saying he would never work with her again.

A person can have all the talent in the world, but if they can't be real and down to earth, they're little more than a prop. There's so much talent out there today that Babs solidly qualifies as a "has been!" By the way, didn't she promise to leave the country if Bush got elected? Promises, promises...

Back around 1965 I passed up several opportunities to have lunch with her with a friend who worked with her brother (I think). I don't feel as if I missed anything...

She is OUT THERE! WAY Out there! I bet Oprah had to do a LOT of editing of that show! Glad I missed it as I agree with the others, she is too FULL of herself! Of what, we ALL KNOW!::yes::

I do like most of her songs (except that horrible rendition of "Jingle Bells"), but as a person, she's a real jerk. I can remember watching her on Rosie O'Donnell's show. Rosie was so excited to have Barbra on her show (so excited it was annoying actually), and once they sat down to talk, I got the feeling that Barbra was not happy to be there at all. She didn't talk much at all, it was all Rosie could do to keep the conversation flowing - she had no choice but to jabber on and on about how much she admired her. Not much of an interview if you ask me.

And don't even get me started on her politics.
