About 2 years ago as I was heading into the restrooms right by the guest relations center near the barbershop off main street in the MK. I noticed a guy about 35 sitting in there.(In the barbershop, not the restroom!) I thought to myself, "why would someone come to the MK and get their hair cut?" About a half hour later I saw why. He was standing in a line next to me, and he had blue spiky hair with glitter and sprinkles in it! (Ok, still a little strange to me given the age of this guy...) For our next trip, I thought that DS4 and DS6 might want some sprinkles in their new spikey hair cuts. Does anyone know what they charge for a little boy hair cut + sprinkles?

Mimi Q, thanks so much! Great article and unbelievable prices! $15.00/adult, $12/child, pixie dust/NC. That will be our first stop at the MK! Maybe daddy will get his 24" pony tail cut off there! Thanks again!

You are welcome. My 2 yo DD had her first haircut there last November, and it was just great. All the kids were having a great time. It was a very good haircut, too. I highly recommend it.

As mentioned above its $12.00 for kids.
On our last trip DS had this done. He got more comments from people, including Peter Pan who came over to him during the parade and told him he looked cool. :teeth: However the funny part is there was a woman, maybe 50ish, next to us while waiting for the parade. She told DS he had the coolest thing in WDW and asked all about it. She hadnt known about the Barber Shop. So after we told her about it, she wanted to go check it out. Before the parade started she returned with blue spiked pixie dusted hair. It was so cute. :teeth:

As my boys would say, "Awwwweeesssooommmeee".

Gosh, I would love to visit the barbershop. Does anyone have photos to share of their visits there?

I just went to the link that Mimi Q gave (thanks for the link). The place looks like a lot of fun. I'm hoping to convince DH to get a cut during our next vacation. If I can, I promise to share photos upon my return.

just back...had my 3 year old there and beside the great cut they painted, with blue hair gel, a mickey head on the back of his blonde head.

9 months?? DANG - My DD is 4 years old and STILL doesn't have that much hair :hyper:
He's a cutie-pie
As for the barber shop - its great. My nephew will be coming with us this trip and that's one of our "must-do's"

We just got back, and had our daughter's first professional haircut done at the Main Street barbershop. I say first, because the only hair cut she has had before was her dad cutting her bangs (for which I was furious at him! He knew I wanted her first haircut at MK). He sent me to the movies with DS and cut her bangs while we were gone.

Anyways, we had about an hour wait, which wasn't really too bad because the parade came by while we were waiting. We just stepped out onto the curb to watch.
Maura was the only one working while we were there.

My daughter was afraid that it would hurt, but Maura was great with her. Really put her at ease. They had a nice conversation during the haircut.
She cut about five inches off the back of Brenne's hair, bringing it just up to her shoulders. Maura then french-braided the sides, which I can't figure out how to do. It looked very cute.

Maura asked Brenne if she wanted any color in her hair (after asking me if it was okay. Of course I said yes.)
Brenne asked for pink, so Maura mixed it up in her hand and used a comb to apply it to her bangs, back of her hair and on top of the braids.
She then asked Brenne if she wanted pixie dust. Of course! Although Brenne was afraid she might fly away. We assured her that she wouldn't.
Maura pixie-dusted her, then turned her around so she could see her face in the mirror.
Maura said she wanted to see Brenne's reaction. She really was so sweet.
We paid her $12 and gave her a tip. Then I gave her a big hug! My baby looked so pretty.
Another woman in the shop asked if she could video Brenne because she looked so pretty, so we said sure.
Before we left the shop, Maura gave Brenne a huge roll of about 40 Mickey stickers.

My DS was jealous, so next trip it will be his turn to get pixie-dusted.

For the rest of the day, people fawned over Brenne. She was really treated like a princess.

Do you make an appointment or do you just wait??? How long does the average little kids hair cut take?

You cannot make an appointment. You just stand in line and wait your turn. My DD's haircut probably took 20 minutes. We waited in line an hour on Thanksgiving Day.

lindajo, if you DO talk daddy into cutting off the ponytail, please consider donating the hair to Locks of Love, an organization that takes donated human hair and makes them into wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment. They need hair at least 12 inches long . . .

Do they cut adult's hair as well? What about long womens hair, would they be able to just give a trim and some glitter? Do they braid Mickeys into your hair?

Does the quartet still sing there?

Thanks!!

They cut adults hair too, including women. The pixie dust and coloring is included.

The barbershop quartet still come to perform, although I don't think there's a set schedule.

This may, my two DSs will be getting hair cuts again. They just love this. It's the highlight of their trip. They don't even want a regular haircut anymore!
