Hi,

We have reviewed your ban and the chat log that was recorded at the time. We believe your ban to be fair and just.

You were warned about your behaviour beforehand, but still chose to break the rules. We take online safety very seriously and your actions were unsafe for both you and the other players.

We're sorry but we will not be allowing you to play VMK any more.

that's totally lame of them. it's just a freakin' game. these people at vmk need to lighten up. seriously. i never go on anymore because i'm always afraid of saying something wrong and them yelling at me. what's the point of being able to talk in vmk anyway? you have no dictionary to use and you can't say anything about anything because you'll get warned and/or banned.

i'm sorry this happened to you.

maybe you should ask them to see the chat log? they could be lying, you know. (i've been dealing with liars in a situation that happened to someone close to me recently, said that things happened that didn't and they threatened to sue, even paid a lawyer to send a threatening letter!)

I'm waiting for a response from them requesting details of what took place. I did sit my daughter down and told her that vmk was going to send me the play by play so that I would be finding out exactly what happened so she should fess up. She proceeded to tell me that the person asked for her IM and she gave them a fake one (hmmmm????) then the person said it doesn't work what's your phone number ... she gave them a fake one (hmmmmm?????) then they asked if she was in mid or hi school and that's when the ban message came up. We'll see if her story checks out... So far I just keep getting generic messages.

That's horrible that they threatened to sue and that you had to pay a lawyer to write a letter.

That is just not fair they should ban the person asking the questions not the one giving out info...they should however inform the parent of the info giver that they have been trying to give out personal info in the game.

i totally agree with malificent2, they should have banned the other player not your daughter... did your daughter even get warned for the stuff she sent? you think vmk would know that a lot of younger people are players and that they could help them out a lot by just warning them. i mean, i'm 22 and i'm even afraid to get yelled at for something by a stranger still! i thought you couldn't give out numbers on vmk still or are there ways of getting around that?

I think the biggest problem is that if VMK just bans the username, people immediately start a new account or just switch their main character to one of their mules. If they ban the IP so that new characters can't be used, then they may also be banning innocent people (such as this case). I would think that in the majority of cases, there is only one person playing VMK at each IP address, so it seems that is the method they have chosen to do most permanent or longterm bans now. I think they still just ban usernames sometimes for short bans - however again people just use another character until their ban is done.

I think most of us would agree that VMK needs the ability to ban players. Unfortunately, their tools are limited and it seems that as fast as they ban, someone gets around it. I'm not sure what the answer is.

(by the way, I think it is completely wrong that they didn't even read your email - that is my biggest pet-peeve with VMK support)
