First off we want to book the Med cruise for 8/8. I had 13 points from this use year tranferred to Aug/06 use year. Can I use that 13 points for Aug/07 for 8/8? I want to do the med cruise and do 1/2 points and 1/2 cash. Of course knowing my luck I would schedule us for 8/8/07 Med cruise and then when I call Memberservices to switch our cash to points I dont want them saying I have to move our dates to 7/18/07 due to that 13 points. The points usage for this cruise (besides the cash) is very high. I want to make sure prior to making our resv's.

Banked points from your August 2005 use year expire on 7/31/2007, so no, you could not use them for a cruise that departs in your 2007 use year.

Best wishes -

Thanks that is what I thought. Its great to have someone confirm this for me.

I have a similar question. We also want to do a Med cruise and are just now thinking of buying into DVC. We want to make our reservation for the Med cruise on April 4. If we then join DVC say this summer could we use our points toward the Med cruise even though we were not DCV members when we made the cruise reservation?

Many thanks! Thinking about spending this much money all at once -- either for the Med cruise or DVC -- makes my head spin.

I will try to answer this for you (if I am wrong others will guide you the right way!).

On 4/4/04 if your not members at that time I would suggest making the resv and putting a deposit down. Do not have a TA/DU do your resv (sorry DU). Then when you become members and you have enough points you could possibly convert your current resv to DVC. The only thing that I learned yesterday (due to I was thinking about making a resv on 4.4 and later when I have the cash portion saved up) that DVC has a certin number of room allowcated to them per cruise. So if you call up and want to convert your current resv to DVC they may or may not have your catagory avail even though you have a room booked on DCL.

Go to this link:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1063111 and you will see what I learned yesterday.
