Banking question for DVC experts

We usually have no points left after our trip and while we are seasoned DVC travelers, I have never really banked points. I have around 138 points with an August use year (2014) that I want to use toward a Feb 2016 trip, can I do this?? Once points are banked how long do you have to use them? If I can't, what options would you choose, if you can't fit in another trip before they expire???Thanks!!! TIA

Your August 2014 points could be used for travel from August 1, 2015 - July 31, 2016 if you bank them. They may be banked thru the end of March, 2015 and would expire after July 31, 2016 if not used. If you can't use them, they could be used to make a reservation for someone else or placed in the World Passport collection for a reservation at a RCI resort (which extends their use up to 2 years).
