We have an April use year. I know we have to bank them by November 30. When do have to use them by?

For a trip that ends no later than March 31, 2012, unless you bank them and then they are good for a trip during 4/1/12 to 3/31/13.

When you make your your reservation your banked points are automatically used first.

The last night you can stay on your April 2011 use year points without banking them is March 31, 2012.

You can have a reservation that crosses over this date, but it will use a combination of 2011 points and 2012 (or banked 2011) points.

Thank you all for your replies. For some reason I thought banked points had to be used by the end of the use year.
Hope everyone doesn't mind. I have another question. We are trying to plan a trip. Had two planned due to circumstances had to cancel one of them. The second one has borrowed points being used. Still planning on this trip, just might have to change dates. Will we end up losing the points we borrowed or will they be applied to the new trip. Sorry for some many questions.

Banked points have to be used by the end of the use year in which they were banked. Thus, if you banked 2010 UY points into UY 2011, you would have until the end of your 2011 UY, in you case, March 31, 2012 to use those banked points.

They need to be used by the end of the following use year -- the year you banked them into.

This will depend on when you cancel the trip, and whether the new trip falls within the same use year as the one you canceled.

Borrowed points will be returned to the use year in which the trip was scheduled. They cannot be returned to their original use year. When is the trip you're canceling, and when is the trip you want to re-book? Are they both within the same use year? If so, you can re-use your borrowed points for the next trip.

There are also some cancellation rules to consider. If you cancel a trip more than 30 days from check-in date, the points are returned to the use year in which the trip fell. You can use these points without restriction. If the points weren't previously banked or borrowed, and you are still within the banking deadline for your use year, you can also bank the points.

If you cancel 1-30 days before your check-in date, the points will be put in what's called a holding account. Points in holding have restrictions on how they can be used. Holding account points can't be banked.

If you cancel on your check-in date, or are a no-show without calling either Member Services or the resort front desk, all points associated with the reservation are forfeited.

Ok. Thank you. I understand everything better now. The books are confusing to me. The trip is going to be in this UY just not certain on the dates. DH is military and they have changed Christmas leave up.

Is this true if my banking deadline is September 30 and the points are all banked can I use those points for between the banking deadline and the start of the new use year for a new reservation? When I purchased my points the banking of points was spread over three time periods which allowed 25% of the points to be saved until November before having to bank them. I now have a wait list and all of my points will be banked so I am forced to barrow if that wait list is fulfilled. Under the old system I would have had until November to use 25% of the current year points.

Banked points cannot be unbanked, thus you would have to borrow in your scenario.
