Banking points

How much notice do you have to give to bank your points? Like if I have a Sept UY when do I have to let them know by? I'm in the process of perhaps becoming a DVC member so was just curious in case it goes through.

You may bank points any time during the first 8 months of your Use Year. For a September Use Year, points may be banked thru April 30. Points that have already been banked or borrowed may not be banked. Once banked, the points cannot be used for a stay until the following September 1.

No notice is required. You can just call MS (or bank online) any time during the first 8 months of the Use Year.

You have to bank those points prior to the last four months of your UY. So with a Sept UY, you have to bank them before May 1. Once you hit May 1, you are too late.

Also, you can't book something outside of DVC during those last four months to be used during those last four months.

Say you forgot to bank. There is a nice RCI/DVC exchange not too far from your home and it is available in August when you want to go. You can't book that in May, June, July or August to use in that same Aug.

The bolded part above is not accurate. The World Passport Collection can still be reserved to stay during the last 4 months of the Use Year. DVC points cannot be used to make and stay at Disney Collection, Concierge Collection or Adventurer Collection options during the last 4 months. Basically, any reservation that requires MS to rent a reservation needs to happen prior to the last 4 months but stays at DVC resorts (including World Passport Collection) may be made anytime throughout the Use Year.

They must be banked before the last four months of your use year. So if your use year begins on May 1, the last day you can do this is April 30. You can notify them on that date so no advanced notice is needed. You can also do this online at the DVC member website so it is really not a problem as long as you do it by the correct date.

If you think most of your trips will be during the summer months, try not to get a Sept or Oct use year, it is a major pain now that they made the banking windown 4 months prior.

One of the changes I dislike the most.
