I understand you can only bank in the first 8 months. Can you bank points every year? Once they are banked when do you have to use them? I am looking at one that has a lot of 2011 points and getting the contract points in 2012. I am thinking if I was to get something like that, can I keep banking my current years points until I want to use them on a larger vacation?? (hope that makes since)

ALSO Thanks so much for everyones help on this board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you can bank your points every UY. Once points are banked, they extend for an additional UY.

For example if you had an April UY and banked your 2011 UY points, they would now be good from April 1st, 2012 through March 31st, 2013.

If you wanted to bank the 2012 UY points, you could do that by November 30th, 2012 and that make them valid during your 2013 UY instead.

You also can bank multiple times during that period. You don't have to do it all in one call--so, you could bank 50 points today and then in a few months, bank more if you don't need it.

When you bank or borrow you are changing the points to a different UY. Banking 2012 points makes them 2013 points. Borrowing 2014 points, turns them into 2013 points.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions and the same points can only be moved once.

You can bank to move points to the following use year or borrow to move the points to the previous use year. Once banked or borrowed, they cannot be moved back to the original use year and cannot be banked or borrowed again.

So for example, if you want to do a trip in your 2012 use year, you can use banked 2011, current 2012, borrowed 2013. So it's possible to have 3 years of points available.

And if your trip falls across your use year (such as you have a Sept UY and your trip starts in Aug and ends in Sept), you can use four years worth of points (you can borrow from the next UY to use for the last days of the trip in the new UY).

Using 4 use years points help me with this. We are thinking of playing a hawaii trip in May/June 2014. The contract we are buying is a June UY. So what would be the best plan to use my points (will stay a week).

a june UY runs from jun 1, 20XX to may 31, 20XX+1.

for the may 2014 dates in your reservation, you can use any combination of banked 2012 pts, current 2013 pts and borrowed 2014 pts.

for the june 2014 dates in your reservation, you can use any combination of banked 2013 pts, current 2014 pts and borrowed 2015 pts.

remember that traveling late in your UY (the nights in may) puts you at extra risk of losing pts as your banking window closes on january 31 - so after that you can no longer bank forward your current year 2013 pts. and any banked/borrowed pts you use for the may portion of the stay will expire at the end of may once they are banked/borrowed.
