Banking points before the deadline?

My 11 month window is coming up in less than 2 weeks. I want to use points from my current use year, as I will have 75 left over. I have not banked these points yet (don't have to bank until March). My question is, do I need to bank these now in order to use them for this Dec trip I am booking in 2 weeks. I was just holding out in case I needed more points for trip in May (this is not likely as our wait-list already came through). Hope this makes sense.

You would need to bank before using the points online, for a reservation that falls in the following use year. But you don't need to do it now to book something in two weeks. When you bank points online, the system moves them into the next UY in real time, and you can use them to book in that next UY immediately.

If you were to call in, the MS rep could bank them and use them in the next UY reservation for you in a single phone call. In effect, accomplishing the same thing you could do yourself online.

If your wait list already came through, why are you even asking? Your post is confusing. How would you possibly need more points for a May trip in this circumstance?

If it is considering modifying for a longer stay in May, then nobody here can answer. The value of waiting to bank versus using your current points as part of the December reservation would be up to you. And if it isn't that, I'm not understanding why you would ask.

If you don't need the points to make your December reservation, you can wait to bank them. Then, if you end up not needing those points for this use year, you can bank them in March and have the points reallocated so that your December trip uses the banked points.

But, if you need the current use year points for the December reservation, you will have to bank them before you make your reservation.

Thanks! This is exactly what I was wondering. We are new DVC owners and I did not know if points could be reallocated. We don't need the points for December. I did not want to bank before I had to just in case anything changed for our May trip resulting in us needing more points, but if that happened I guess I could borrow from the next use year.
