Banking for Aulani September 2021

Hi All. New owner. We have been renting points for several years but this will be my first time booking as a member and it's not straightforward(for me).

AKV Owner 160 points October UY.

First points due October 2020.

We want to travel to Aulani on the 2020 banked + the 2021 points in September 2021.

So I know we bank our October 2020 points. Since we are travelling 09-2021 do we also need to borrow the October 2021 points since we will be booking February 2021?

We will have enough points to book any of the 2-bedroom options so I'm not too worried about the 7 months things.

Yes, if you need both sets of points, and I am assuming you do (320) based on the 2BR.

September 2021 is in your October 2020 UY. As mentioned above, you'll need to borrow October 2021 points, but you do not want to bank your 2020 UY points; those are current UY points for September 2021 travel.

I'm sure you're aware, but for others reading this, traveling so close to the end of one's UY incurs a lot of risk if plans have to unexpectedly change. This is why people recommend buying with some degree of intention* with regards to UY.

*Whatever your travel habits are, they will likely change post buying-in, over the decades of ownership, from either aging of children/self, or you go more often. In any case, you make the best decision you can with the information you have.

Yeah we understand UY quite well and we travel all over the year, so there wasn't any perfect UY for us. We thought hard on it for several days and went with October. Luckily after 9-10 DVC rentals for the past 3 years, we are quite use to the stress of the "no-cancellation" policy. : ) This is a special family trip to meet family at Aulani and not indicative or our normal travels.
