Banking & Dev. Points Ressie Question

OK I know that anyone who has made ressies using the Dev. Points doesnt initially get a confirmation #. They say it will take 7-10 days to get one.

Here's my situation and question:

1. I have a ressie at AKV 3/23-3/28 using my 2007 Points
2. I just made a ressie at AKV 3/23-3/28 using the Dev. Points.

*I want to use the Dev. Points for the ressie and be done with them, that way I can bank the 2007 points into my 2008 use Year.

So I am told that I have the Dev. Point ressie (#2 above), but have to wait 7-10 days for the confirmation #. Sounds fine. But in the meantime, I want to cancel my trip (#1 above) and bank those points. But I am afraid that if I cancel ressie #1, I could be stuck if for some reason I never get a confirmation # for my Dev. Point ressie.

**The other concern I have is that I am a March Use Year. I have a 160 PT. at SSR, and 110 Pt. at AKV. So I was told today by MS that they combine your point totals (270 in my case) and use that number in deciding when I can safely bank 100%, 50% etc.. of my points. Is that correct? I thought since I am trying to bank points for my AKV contract (110 pts.) that would the # they would work off of.

OK IF you have made it this far you are either extremely a DVC nut:woohoo: , or are extremely bored:rotfl2: but I appreciate any advice you have because to bank 100% of my points it needs to be done by Aug. 31 if they dont figure in BOTH contracts together and I wont have a confirmation # by then.

Thanks for reading!!!:coffee:

I think you are wise to wait for proof that you have the new reservation using the developer points before you cancel the initial reservation.

If your SSR and AKV contracts are a master and an add-on (same UY, same base contract number, with one contract having an ".000" extension and the other with a ".001" extension) then the points are combined when calculating banking percentages. You have 160 points at SSR and 110 points at AKV for a total of 270 points. During your 50% banking window (Sep 1 - Nov 30) you can bank up to 135 points in any combination from your contracts, minus any points already banked this Use Year. If you have not banked any points this UY, then you could bank all 110 AKV points during your 50% banking window, along with up to 25 SSR points.

OK IF you have made it this far you are either extremely a DVC nut...
I plead the 5th!

Thanks Lisa. Yeah the AKV contract is listed as .1, so that would explain why MS said I have 270 to work with. I never realized that my add-on is considered an extention of my SSR contract. With taht being said, then I am ok to wait until after the Aug. 31 cut off date, and the Nov. date wold apply to me. Thanks so much Lisa.

You're welcome. Your SSR contract is a "master" contract and the AKV is an "add on" to that master. Being able to treat the two like one big contract when calculating banking percentages can come in handy!
