Banking, deadlines and incentives, oh my!

Okay, say if we purchase before the August 31st deadlline (to get the double developers points), so we purchase 160 points, (then get the 320 that must be used by August 31, 2008), then, do we get the 2006 points, or just the 2007 points? And if we get the 2006 points,(for example with a December UY), how can you bank them, as all the banking deadlines have past?
I'm sorry if this question is so confusing!

Your scenario for purchasing would only apply to SSR, and that assumes a Dec UY is still available, probably is. When you are a new member DVC will waive the normal banking deadlines, so you can purchase and pretty much right away bank the 06 UY points into 07. You will then have to use those 160 points by Nov 30, 2008, plus manage your 07 UY points by either using them or banking them into 08.

It depends a bit on your use year. If you get an "end of the year" use year, you will have 2006 points to bank. If you buy at AKV, you will not get 2006 points, but will get 2007 points. If you get an "early in the year" use year, you will already be in your 2007 use year, so no 2006 points.
