Hi there one and all,

I have a few quick questions that I am hoping you knowledge folks can answer, since Member Services are already shut and will not be open again before I go to work in the morning.

My boss is looking at the potential of renting some points off me for a last minute trip in October, but it's something I've never done before, so is raising a few questions.

1) What kind of information will I need to give MS when booking on someone else's behalf?
2) What is the availability for a studio in October like? She is considering OKW.
3) What will they need to check-in since it will be my points for their vacation and I will not be anywhere the world?
4) My use year is December, so all my remaining points from this year have already been banked, since we did not know we would be making any last minute bookings. Since the points are already banked, am I still able to borrow against them and make a booking for October?

Thanks guys!
Elizabeth

Same as you need for your own booking. Names of all guests, phone # and address. May need ages for kids if any.

October can be very popular due to F&W, but I'd imagine you can get into SSR and/or OKW. Possibly even AKV.

Photo ID at most. Credit card for incidentals.

You can't borrow back banked points, but you can borrow next year's points (2010) since it hasn't come yet. You'll then have to use you banked points sometime before Dec. 2011 if you don't want to lose them.

Brilliant! Thanks for your speedy reply. That sounds fine then. We have more than enough of regular points to be able to do the October booking, and we still have the second half of our May trip next year to book! Got a few nights at new home resort BLT booked at the 11-month window before we go on our cruise, and just waiting for 7-month window to pop up to book some nights after we return from the cruise, so that vacation will use up the remaining banked points from this year, and leave us free to bank any of next year's for the year after!

Just be sure that she understands that you are borrowing points and won't be able to return the points.

With a Dec UY those points would only be good until November 30th, 2010 if she had to cancel the reservation. They can not be put back into the UY that they came from.

It can be a little tricky when you are borrowing so late in the UY.

I just tried to do the same thing in October for my friend. There was no availability at any of the resorts in October for five nights in a row. The best they had was three nights at Saratoga. I would have had to borrow too, with a december use year. It makes me a bit nervous. If they ever has to cancel, I'd be out those points

....That is why you make it clear that if they book, they pay, regardless of their use of the room.
