Hi all,

We just booked our hotel for December.

We had points left from 2019 and 2020 that were banked (sorry if that is not the right word I always get confused). But, when we booked, it automatically used our 2021 points instead of 2020's points.

We are planning on calling DVC to get it fixed, but does anyone know where we went wrong in the booking process? Was there a button we were supposed to press that changes the use year?

TIA

What is your UY? There is no way for a trip to use more than one set of banked points.

If it took 2021 UY points, the trip can not be booked using banked 2019 points.

Dec 2021 is in everyone’s 2021 UY. But it still should have taken your banked 2020 points first..which it may have as one screen makes it seem like it won’t..this assumes you did already bank them?

Also, if you have more than one contract, all have to be checked for it to pull from each.

Our use year is November.

I honestly have no clue how the points from 2019 are still showing up. We had a trip booked for July 2020, using 14 points from 2019, and when we canceled that trip they put all the points, including 2019, back in 2020.

There will a no November UY so I am assuming it’s Dec UY.

So, the July 2020 trip was in your 2019 UY. You have to forget about calendar year. So, when you canceled, those points went back to your 2019 UY, not 2020, even though it was the calendar year 2020.

At that point, you would have had to bank them into your 2019 UY. If you did, they would be valid from Dec 1st, 2020 until November 30th, 2021. So, will expire before that Dec 2021 trip.

You are now in your Dec 2020 UY, even if it is 2021. If you have not actually yet banked the 2020 points into your 2021 UY to be used for that December trip, the system can’t use them because they are not there yet. So, it used the 2021 UY points since that is the UY the trip will happen.

The good news is that once you bank the 2020 UY points, you can have MS reallocate them into the trip. It can be done online but may be easier this first time to have MS do it!

Okay, that makes sense!! Thank you so much for your help!
