Banked Points

Due to the hurricane, I chose to move flights and DVC stay around a bit. I now have 19 points in holding that I'm told must be used by this December. We all know the chances of finding a DVC room at the last minute this time of year. I have asked 2 different CM if they can bank them, but because they were banked once, I'll loose them. Is there anything else I can do with these points.

Nope. Holding points can't be banked. No points can ever be banked twice. If they weren't banked points already, MS might have been able to help you out due to the hurricane, but in this case, you're pretty much out of luck. This is the type of situation where having a favorable use year can really help you out.

Could you rent them?

You can rent using points in holding but you would still need to find the unlikely renter who is looking only for a very short stay to be completed by Nov 30 and probably looking for a non-WDW DVC resort which has more chance of being open.

If the trip was changed because of the hurricane, MS may have allowed a one-time banking exception if the points had been current use year rather than banked. My question is why is it that you have 19 banked points that are in holding? Were there no current use year points in the original reservation that could have been left unused when the reservation was changed, thus giving MS at least the opportunity to possibly give you a one-time banking exception?
