bank points question

I need some clarification from the experts on this board about banking. I have a 150 pt contract at BW and just added on 100 at VWL both with a use year of October. It is my intention to vacation every OCT and alternate contracts and resorts. I had 43 points left on the BW contract for 2002 and called MS today to schedule the oct trip at VWL and bank the 43 points. I was told I needed to use the banked points by the end of Sept 2003 and could not use them for my trip to BW in Oct 2003. This is different then what my guide advised who said the banked points expired at the end of OCT not Sept. I can always change my plans and vacation in Sept each year but I am still a little miffed at my guide if this is true. We spent a long time explaining what I was trying to accomplish and , assuming she was wrong, failed to accomplish vacationing every other year with the points accrued plus that years point and borrowing from the next year .
Please help

Thanks
Todd

Your use year runs from October 1 - Sept 30 of the folowing year. I believe the confusion is you have October 2001 BWV points left over which need to be used by 9/30/02 or banked and used by 9/30/03. You can bank your BWV Oct 2002 points and combine them with Oct 2003 points to give you 300 points to be used in October 2003. The leftover BW points could be used for your VWL reservation in Oct 2002 at the 7 month window.

As long as you follow banking proceedures, your date of travel should not be effected by your use year.

Use year month is the month you receive your new allocation of points every year, on the 1st of the month. Thus the prior year's points would expire the day before, or the last day of the previous month.

So, as stated, an October use year would be from Oct 1st to Sep 30th each year. And you receive your new allocation of points every Oct 1st.

The following chart may show it more clearly. You can bank any year's points into the following year, or borrow any year's points into the prior year. So for example you can bank your 2002 points into 2003, and borrow your 2004 points into 2003, and have 300% of your points to use in 2003 which is Oct 1st 2003 thru Sep 30th 2004.

If you were told that, with October use year, points were good until the end of October of the next year, then you were provided incorrect info. Points issued in Oct expire end of Sept. If you have 43 points that were issued Oct 1, 2001, they are good until Sep 30, 2002, and, if banked, good until Sep. 30, 2003, but cannot possibly be used for a trip in Oct 2003.
