Anyone use Bank of America? How do you like it? I currently use Chase which is now with Bank One and have been for years.. I dont have any problems with them specifically but am "shopping around" I guess you could say.. My boyfriends daughter has Bank of America and she just opened up the acct.. They have this thing they are doing called Keep the Change.. Basically everytime you use your debit card they round up to the nearest dollar.. take that amt and match it 100%.. then they take that amt and put it into a savings acct.. They do this for every purchase for the first 3 months.. then after that they contribute 5% a year.. We dont currently have a savings acct, which would be wonderful if we did and this is something Ive been thinking about.. We use our debit card for almost everything, so this would work in our favor and would give me an incentive to start a savings acct.. The checking acct would be free since we do direct deposit, which we already do anyways and there is 5 BOA in my neighborhood... What are your thoughts? Yah or Nay??

I like the idea of the round up account...I don't like Bank of America. Not too customer friendly from what I have seen. I do have an account with them, but only because I had my account with Fleet befroe they were bought out. I have direct deposit and auto withdrawels...too much trouble to change them all, so I stay with them.

I use Bank of America and love it. We have been customers for 3 years and no problems. I think customer service is good. My mom has been with them almost always and swears by them. I love the keep the change and have saved over 65.00 dollars in less than 2 months. Great thing for us.

I closed my BOA account years ago because of their outrageous fee schedule. Check out their monthly account fees before you open one.

I banked with them about 20 years ago, in college. Last year I received a call from a collection service saying that I owed $450 to BofA from an overdraft account connected to a checking account that I closed. I told them that I didn't recall having that protection, but if I had why didn't BofA ever contact me about it? I currently have a BofA Visa and I haven't moved around much. If BofA pulled my credit report, they could have found me easily. (This was never listed on my credit report either.)

The collection service said they had no idea, but they were willing to make me a one time offer to settle the account for less than $450 and I could put it on a credit card. I then asked them to send proof of the debt. They read off an account number and said if I wanted to know about it, I could contact BofA. All they have is the account number and the amount, but if I didn't settle it now I would have to pay the whole thing.

:rotfl2: Oh, OK. Ready for that credit card to charge that generously discounted possible debt to? Click. They've never called back.

I did call BofA and was told they could not verify information about closed accounts over the phone. Huh? Do I owe you money or not? :confused3 I'm guessing not.

My future DMIL has been with them for almost 20 years & she swears by them. They are great with customer protection and so willing to help out if your cards have been lost or stolen (she experienced this first hand when her purse was stolen). Personally, I love the Keep the Change program and all of their online tools! :goodvibes

i used them for years but as they became more automated i left. i did'nt like that i could'nt directly call my local branch to resolve a problem (had to go through the call center who would relay the question or concern to the local who you had to hope would call you back), also they can be a major pain if you want to move your account from one branch to another. most banks will let you go into the new branch and provide i.d. for yourself and the account, get a fax of the signature card from the original bank and poof the account is transferred. bofa (at the time we had it) required you go to the original bank and arrange a transfer of the accounts in person (a major pain when you've moved a good distance from that branch).

i've opted to go with a small local bank that has branches in several surrounding towns. i like that they have on-line and automated customer service but i can also call the bank directly and speak with a staff member on site.

i will add, any bank other than wells fargo is a great choice.

The things I have to say about BoA can't be said on a family friendly website. You may want to do some reading about this bank. Here's a link.

BoA Class Action Suits

I use a local credit union for the majority of my banking, however I did have a vehicle loan through bank one at one point. I think in like 96....I never had to contact them, so I cant comment on anything about customer service as it was just a loan that I paid every month. I do know that when I traded that vehicle in, the dealership had a hard time connecting with them to get the pay off etc... I witnessed that by sitting at the salesmans desk when he was trying to get it.

I prefer local credit unions to banks.....personally...

One of my joint accounts with my dh is at BoA because he prefers it, but I actually like the accounts I have with 2 different credit unions.

I personally have issues with BofA because they were discriminatory and renigged (sp?) on an agreement with Hawaiians: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2004/Feb/07/ln/ln03a.html

I am very involved with indigenous issues, especially of my people, that's how I know. If they treat people like this I wonder what else they do to others in the name of capitalism.

I've been with them for about 10 years and don't having anything good OR bad to say about them. They are a bank. I've never had a problem. Any issues have been resolved VERY quickly. Basically I choose a bank by their ATM machines--who has the most and are the convenient to me--so far BOA beats everyone else.

Love bank of America....I have been with my same accounts since it was Barnett Bank, then Nations now BOA....I have had great experience with them!

i use boa and they have been great
i have keep the change and its been great
i have had no cs issues and when i have called them i have had no issues

I have BoA and I love them. I work in a bank, so I feel like I'm somewhat picky of where I choose to put my money. Their customer service has been great to me, I have a friend who has had her debit card stolen several times and they've been quick to send her a new one. She also had problems with fraud on eBay and they quickly took care of that as well. I had a problem where a cc payment I made for $50 was cashed (by the cc's bank) for $500 which sent me into the negative mighty quickly. BoA told me what I had to do for the cc to give me back my money, I thought they were great!

Their online banking is my favorite feature, and that's #1 on my list of requirements when I look for a bank. I really have no complaints with BoA. Commerce, on the other hand...don't even get me started.

::yes:: I use a credit union for that very reason

i just left bank of america. their customer service around here is hit and miss. all i have is the savings account with them. when i tried to put a payroll check into the savings account they said that there was a hold on the check. that the funds would not be available for 10 days. when i asked why, they said that it was because it was a new account. the account was over a year old. so i asked when it stopped being a new account. they had no answer.

i went back to wachovia. i have never had any problems with them.

I've been with BofA since they merged with Fleet a couple years ago now, and am quite satisfied.

I HATE Chase and have pulled all my accounts from them except the Disney Visa which is going away within the next couple of months. I despise them.

It depends on your relationship with them.

I have a substantial IRA there, so pay no monthly fees on either checking account. In fact one checking is interest bearing, the other is my DH's mad money account which seldom has more than a few hundred in it.

I refuse to pay fees with anyone, and have moved my accounts around accordingly with the four banks/credit unions I have deposit accounts with.

We are very happy with BofA. we pay no fees on any of the accounts. Billpay is free. and their online banking is great.
We have 6 accounts with them including checking, savings, credit cards.

I have no complaints.
