We love ice wine. I've read about Rosa Regale, & it sounds like something we'd like. Obviously, we like really sweet dessert wines. How does Rosa Regale compare to ice wine, as far as sweetness? TIA :)

We love Rosa Regale and we love Inniskillen Ice Wine. Rosa Regale is a red sparkling wine from Italy. It's particularly good with chocolate. If you like ice wine, I think you'll love Rosa Regale! They usually have it for sale by the glass at the Italy pavilion.

Enjoy!

I LOVE Rosa Regale and drink it frequently at Disney and at home. My favorite sweets are Trentino Moscato Giallo Gaierhof (which we first tried at Palo on DCL -- I think they serve this at Citrico's as well) or the Sutter Home Muscato when the Trentino well has run dry (nobody around here carries it so I have to order by the case). I guess I think the Inniskillin is slightly sweeter than the Rosa Regale, but I haven't had the Inniskillin in several years, so I could be remembering wrong. Rosa Regale reminds me of a red version of Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante, not quite as sweet and with a red wine flavor to it.

I hope that helps. I'm nowhere near being a wine expert so I'm sure my descriptions are atrocious!

Thanks for the info & suggestions. We'll give it a try. If it's similar to Asti Spumante, I'm not sure we'll think it's sweet enough for dessert. We drink Asti with fruit & cheese as a champagne substitute. We could even drink it with a meal. We like all our wines fairly sweet, & typically drink a reisling when we drink white wine with dinner. Most people consider those a dessert wine. There was another dessert wine suggested here a few months ago that I want to try. We'll have to try the others you've suggested too. Since we only drink wine with dinner on Sat. nights, we'll be sampling for quite awhile. :teeth:

We like Rosa Regale. We learned about Banfi wines at a food and wine pairing during a Food and Wine Festival. We found a store that sells it, so now we keep it on hand.

I would say that the ice wine is sweeter than the Rosa. Just FYI, our BJ's carries Rosa for $16.99 a bottle - much cheaper than the usual $25 at the grocery store.

BJ's??? You mean I don't have to go to Orlando every time I want a bottle??? One of the three BJ's in this state that sells alcohol* is about two miles from here! Thanks!

*Massachusetts' silly liquor laws: Only three outlets of any retail (aka non-package store) operation across the state can sell liquor :rolleyes2

Hi! I've had the Inniskillen and really love it, but somehow I've missed trying the Rosa Regale on our previous WDW vacations! :confused3 I'm looking forward to trying it on our next trip! After reading about Rosa Regale here, I googled it and found this short video from Fine Living network taken and Epcot's Food & Wine Festival.

Ice wine is definitely sweeter than the Banfi. If you like sweeter champagnes (not cloyingly sweet, just sweeter than Brut)you'll love the Banfi. One of the first things DH does when we get to Epcot is buy a glass of Banfi in Italy and then sit in the courtyard drinking it.

Of the two the Rosa Regale is a bit drier and the Inniskillen is sweeter (funny to say tha tabout two sweet beverages). Both are enjoyable with desserts.

Ohh and if you try the Rosa Regale have a piece of chocolate(darker the better)with it. Now for the royal package(this is also the best way for DH to get out of the doghouse)bottle of Rosa with dark choc godiva strawberries :cloud9:. I didn't even like dk choc.before Rosa.

Michelle, thanks for the video.

I will only drink sweet wines. Rose Regale and Ice Wine are my two favorites. Both are sweet and delicious. The only reason I would pick Rosa Regale over Ice Wine is the price.

I love both and actually have a bottle of Rosa Regale chilled in my refrig! You can buy it at our local supermarket. Maybe I will have to open it tonight. I wish I had some ice wine with it, but that is a little pricier.

Thanks all for the info. :) We don't have a BJ's membership. I don't even know, if there's one around here. I guess we'll have to pay the higher price. It's still cheap compared to Inniskillin Ice Wine. I hope my DH can find it this evening. I've already made a chocolate cake, just in case. :teeth:

Michelle,
Thanks for the video.

DP Mama,
Great description! I'd much rather be enjoying a glass at Epcot tonight.

John's Mom,
I know what you mean. If we could afford to have Ice Wine with dessert every Sat. night, we wouldn't be looking for another dessert wine we like. Unfortunately, IW is more of a special occasion wine for us.

Cookie Princess,
What are you waiting for? There's no time like the present. :teeth:

magicmouse2,
Don't do it!!! :p Once you're tried it, there's no going back. It's habit forming, and a very expensive habit it is.

We have a bottle of Banfi chilling too :cloud9: It's my first since *gasp* Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the heads up that they sell it by the glass in Italy! I'll be making a stop in January ;)

We tried it for the 1st time at the F&W 2005 and everyone in our party enjoyed it and we're all partial to the sweet side of wines.

Funny, even though there is a bottle in the fridge here I can't wait till January to enoy it there LOL THANKS!!!!

DianeL,

I know what you mean. Everything (including wine) tastes better in WDW.

No Rosa Regale for us tonight. :guilty: My DH couldn't find it at the grocery store. Bummer!!! We'll go to a wine shop & give it a try next weekend. I hope everyone who had it tonight enjoyed it. :)

Ice wine will be sweeter due to the way it is made.

The freezing of the grapes that are already over ripe seperates the water and allows a very sweet gape juice concentrate to be extrated and then fermented. Rose Regale has the wine ferminting porcess stoped during the fermentation before the yeast has turned all the sugar to alcohol so starts out with less siugar and enfds up with less, but is still sweet.

If you like sweet wines try wines made from grapes suffering from noble rot, that is truely wonderful, esp[ecially if it is the reisling grape
