We are going for one day in Jan. and have bought passes for the day. My TA said something about a band. What is it all about? The last time I went (and every other time) I had my park pass and that was it. Where do I go to get the information. I just got an e-mail saying that I had to set things up.

Disney has created a website/app, My Disney Experience. Guests create a
MDE account, and use that to link tickets, reserve fastpasses, make dining reservations, etc.
All Disney resort guests receive a complimentary MagicBand. It's a rubber bracelet equipped with RFID technology. Guests who are NOT staying at a Disney resort may purchase bands if they like, but it is NOT necessary. You can also access the same information using your ticket (hard plastic card). The cards are also equipped with RFID.
If you have already purchased your ticket, you should create an MDE account. Just go to the Disney website, and look for the "My Disney Experience" logo at the right of the top menu bar. After you create your account, it will ask if you want to link your ticket. Use your confirmation number, or the number on the back of the ticket, if you already have it in hand. Once your ticket is linked, you can reserve 3 fast passes for the day of your visit.
Do some reading, on these boards and on the Disney site, and come back with any questions you have. Your TA should also be able to help you. And have a great trip!
