I'm not in my school's band, but I have a lot of friends who are in band, and this last year they did songs from Epcot. It was so cool!!!

I play alto saxophone. It is my senior year. It's really weird, thinking back on my rookie year.

I would guess...

bass clarinet (unless you count that as a clarinet)
bari sax (but i would count that as a saxophone)

Of course, neither of these instruments are a necessity. But they can be helpful when the low brass is weak.

Euphonium.

Last year we had 3 and it was the most my band director ever saw.

I take my instrument pretty seriously.


No one has ever HEARD of that instrument until i came along.

Well, Baritone VS Euphonium's are different.

Like, Baritone...the sizes and structure are different. Different enough for companys to produce both Euphoniums AND Baritones.
I hate it when band teachers call us Baritones, because Baritones are pretty much extinct, and what we all play in band..is (properly) known as a Euphonium. Although, they do exist.

Just thought I'd let that little lesson out there.

Only five!? Thats a LOT. In district band, we had about as many people as you did in your marching band except we only had 4, and there were auditions for it! Most places haven't heard of them...or band directors will make students switch from clarinet or trumpet to Euphonium simply because it's "easier". While it's much easier for a trumpet to hit high notes, it takes a LOT more air...and..well..the clarinet player is sure in for a surprise.

We're always under-estimated. Most times in songs, we don't even have our own part. We play what the trombone plays. Which I think shouldn't be overpowered.

See...trombone is such a sharp edgy sound. Euphoniums are round...more like a tenor tuba. Thats pretty much why I adore K. L. King and John Philip Sousa, they gave Euphonium their own part, which made the band sound full.

Baritone the NAME is more common, but I bet you anything they're actually playing Euphoniums in concert band but don't even realize it.

Thats what everyone assumes, but okay.

I really don't wanna argue about this.

All I have to say is that this year we have a crap load of trumpets.
there's at least 20
and they try to outplay everyone else...so they're super obnoxious.

wow twenty we only have 15(biggest section) how many people are in your band?


my band camp is over today was the last day
but the trumpet section got best section(suprisingly)
