I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Banana French Toast at Kona Cafe in the Polynesian. I have checked the menus at allears and see that Boatwright's in POR now has the same french toast. These menus were updated in May so I wanted to see if someone can just confirm this for me.

I'm staying at POFQ so it would just be so much easier to eat at Boatwright's than go to the Poly. But I'll do whatever it takes - it's one of my favorite Disney treats.

Can anyone confirm this for me???

Thanks.......

Yes, Boatwright's has the banana stuffed french toast. Unlike Kona, they serve it with a strawberry-banana sauce.

Thanks so much for confirming that. I'm very excited to eat this when I get there. And so much more convenient. No I just have to decide whether to get it with or without the sauce. I have 43 days to decide....

I have had it at Boatwrights and it is delish!! I enjoyed mine with a Mango smoothie, oh so decadent!! Enjoy!!

I've been eating the banana stuffed French Toast since I was a little kid. Aw geez...now I'm getting all weepy....

Anyway....when I took DH to Disney for his first trip, I HAD to bring him to Kona. Needless to say, he fell in love with it. On a subsequent trip, we mentioned that we come to Kona every trip just for this dish and how I have eaten it on every single trip since I was a little kid. Well, our server disappeared and came back with the recipe.

DH went out and got a special pan (I don't cook, but the pan was big enough to hold all the bubbling oil and fit the big piece of bread). We've made it a few times and it tastes great! Of course, there is no comparison to eating it THERE, but it's fairly easy to make and it's great when you need that Disney "fix."

:teeth:

WOW - I can't believe you have the recipe.

Would you be willing to share it?? I don't cook AT ALL. I live in Manhattan and everything delivers from coffee to sushi to McDonalds. But I would be willing to try to cook, if I had that recipe. It would make my mornings MAGICAL.

It's also something I've been eating since I was a little kid. I'm taking my friend for the first time and him and I always go out to breakfast together on saturday mornings. He always orders either french toast or banana pancakes. So I know that the banana french toast will be a hit with him. My mouth is watering now. I have to go eat something lame like a bagel now.

wdwprincess77: when I get home from work today, I'll try to remember (ha, ha...me remember?!?!) and post it. I'm sure if you searched the recipe boards (are they still around?!?) here, it'll be there - just in case you want to make it tonight!!

I think if you ask for any recipe in any WDW restaurant they'll give it to you.

It's actually not that difficult....the trick is to cut the bread the right way so the bananas stay in during the deep fry stage.
:D
