Has anyone done this excursion on CC. If so, could you give some details? One blaring question I have, is what do you do if you fall off? I read in the passporter that it can get really rough over the wakes and people fall off. I have this reserved for my family and now I am starting to think about it.

For some reason on the cruise we were on with
a group, our friends all went on the Banana Boat
and on the one they went on the guy who should
protect the guests on the back did not go???????

They all left and YES, they all told us it was
extremely bumpy and she fell off, the driver
went around and tried to get her out of the
water, due to them being on the beach prior
they had suntan lotion on and it was very hard
getting her out of the water, she ended up
having the most unreal bruise on her upper
arm and shoulder from the guy pulling her up
so hard.

They NEVER should have gone out and I do
not recommend this ride to any friends, it is
quite bumpy - more than you would think,
if the water is not glass that day, I would pick
something else. The weather was not bad
that day.

I am sure there are plenty of happy Banana
Boat riders, so just be cautious. Just a note :)

Or family of 4 (two adults, a 12 and a 9 year old) did the banana boat and thought it was a blast! I recommend wearing swim goggles because you do get splashed. I went with the 9 year old and no one fell off. My husband went with the 12 year old and someone did fall off. My daughter was concerned because they could see stingrays on the bottom when the boat stopped, but there was no problem retrieving the fallen comrade.

I have fallen off a banana boat before, and had no trouble pulling myself back onto the boat from the water. Everyone wears a life jacket, so if you do fall off you won't drown. I think it's worth trying, if it looks fun to you you'll probably like it.

I went on it with my DD-14, DS-12, DD-12. We loved it. My DD-12 got off halfway through because it is hard on the arms. It is pretty bouncy, even on a smooth ocean. I WOULD recommend it for most. Just lean IN when you feel like you are going to fall off. You should be ok. They have 2 people on the boat, one to look back at all times so they can stop quickly if necessary. Great time, well worth it.

You gotta remember the most basic rule if you fall off the banana boat, look for Andy's (VerandaMan) glasses!!;) He really would like them back:smooth:

My DH and DS have gone on the banana boat 3 times. Everyone has to wear a lifejacket. Yes, it can be bumpy, but they really love it.

In a word....CRAZY!!!

A lot of fun though. :hyper: You do have life jackets. No one from my crew fell off. Just hold on tight. My fingers were stuck at the end :rotfl:

I wouldn't recommend it if you have a back that doesn't like trauma. My DH's back was sore for a few days. It's quite bouncy. Hard bounces in the front and flighty bounces in the back.

We went 2 times last August and plan to go again this year. It is so much fun, only thing better are wave runners. We put our grandkids, 8 and 9 in front of us but no one fell off. You are pulled right off the seat, sort of like when you go down the hill on a coaster. My only problem was they made me take off my glasses and I couldn't see, this was before Andy's trip, see you should have listened!

We've done the Banana Boats many, many times....all of us ranging in age from 8yrs to 73 yrs.
One of our 22 yr olds fell off, and loved floating around out there until they came and pulled her out. I think she did it on purpose.
We've gone during really bumpy seas (Hurricane Isabel) and during calm seas....loved it no matter what.
The first time I went, I had just had some fairly major surgery on both arms and I have a bad back, so I was very leery.....did it anyway (you only live once) and had no pain whatsoever.
It was a little harder for the 73 yr old to hold on...but you're told to lean in (inside the Banana Boat is a flat area that you could fall into if need be) and if you lean in when you feel yourself slipping, you can have a chance to catch your balance.
We have even been known to make the BB bounce up and down on purpose! :smooth:

We LOVED the banana boats! I plan on doing it again next cruise on CC. It was bumpy but not really wild. One guy fell off and we circled back and he climbed back on-board. On our ride there were two people in the boat pulling us, one drove and the other kept looking back to see if anyone had fallen off.

My only problem was they made me take off my glasses and I couldn't see, this was before Andy's trip, see you should have listened!

The problem with this is, we were never told before our BBR to remove anything. I was told that the ride wasn't very bumpy, it didn't go very fast, and there wasn't must chance of falling off. That's funny, b/c all 10 on our BBR went in the drink on the way back in. Luckily, I had my waterproof camera with me and got a shot of the boat that was pulling us after we all fell in. My DD and I still had a BLAST, and will be doing the BBR again this August on CC, except I will not have glasses on, maybe a pair of goggles though, that saltwater burns the eyes.
