I agree with everyone who pointed out the need for eye protection. I was in the very back seat (the one with the whistle in case anyone falls off) and the salt was in my eyes despite my prescription sunglasses (I had a strap on them in case I fell in!).

One other thing I recommend is that you wear shorts. There is quite a bit of sand on the seats and when you bump up and down it really rubs the insides of your legs. My DD got a pretty bad rash from it. We had an absolute blast, but it is tiring. My DD was just 10 when we went. She weighed about 55 pounds at the time and she had a hard time holding on. If the girl with one usable arm isn't very strong, I'd worry about her abilities to stay on. The only people who fell off on our trip were two college aged girls who were joking with the boat operators, but it was a physical challenge.
